Well, I moved to Lafayette, and I have my own apartment. I got hired at the Daily World in Opelousas, but I couldn't find an apartment in Opelousas. I ended up finding one in Lafayette, and I'm pretty happy about that because I'm planning to put in for a transfer to the Advertiser within 6-12 months.
If I really would have wanted to work at the Advertiser, I would have had to be a copy editor/paginator, and that's not really what I wanted. They had already filled up their open reporting positions, so I pretty much had to choose between reporting in the small town and copy editing in the big city. I made my decision, and I'm pretty happy with it so far. The main thing is that I'm working for Gannett now, so transfers to other papers are going to be pretty easy. The first step was getting in the system. The rest will be fine, as long as I do good work and impress people.
By the way, Gannett is really LOVING NSU grads right now. Leslie, Glenn and Garrett have all gotten hired, too. Any other talented former-classmates of mine who might happen to still read my LJ (not sure why you would) and need a job should think about applying at a Gannett paper. (If you're one of those really sucky people I used to know, please don't bother).
Anyway, that's about all that's going on with me. I have two level 60s in WoW now. My warlock hit 60 last weekend. I've started Zul'Gurub and Molten Core with my warrior. I love the ZG raids, because they are mostly guild people and it's only 20 people, and most of them are my friends. The MC raids are another story. Yes, I'm getting epics, but the raids take like 6 hours to complete, and with 40 people, there's a lot of drama. I might not stick with it. I haven't decided yet.
That's all. Send me an e-mail if you wanna chat.
