for all those crushed by pain or hopelessness tonight
for everyone who watched their lives get washed away
for all of those left behind
and for all of the gaping wounds left in Katrina's wake, and the damage still being done
believe that we really can make a difference if we're ready to

i remember after 9/11, everything seemed so big, i didn't even know where to begin, what mercies or grace to ask God for.

tonight i think my prayer will simply be "God....."
and i'll try to listen
