HAPPY BIRTHDAY
pocky_slash!
Thank you for being a great friend and also one of the bestest best roommates ever. May there be many more days of talking about gay porn at one o'clock in the kitchen of our apartment. Everyone should go and wish her a happy 21st, like, right now. 'cause she's awesome like that. Also if you want to request anything I will totally mail it to you if it doesn't get done before you go away for the summer!
And, to
bravecows, who wanted a petting and also a story:
“Haha,” the young man watched her nervously. “Um. I’m really kind of late, huh?”
She looked at him and said nothing. In apology, he set the dish with the dumplings in front of her and bowed.
“But I’m here now. That’s okay, isn’t it?”
There seemed to be a glimmer of some sort of acceptance in her smile she gave. Feeling at least a little bit forgiven, the visitor plopped himself down across from her. He held his hands awkwardly in his lap.
“I’m sorry,” he said, genuinely. “I guess…it’s just. Been so long! And I’ve been busy…”
He clapped his hands together suddenly.
“But I’m a shinigami now! See?”
She could, from his uniform.
“I’m a member of the Sixth Division! ...not really surprising but-but it’s really cool!”
He slouched his shoulders slightly at the look she seemed to give him, then.
“I can say that, right? …it’s great, right? I’m not the best yet. Still really a rookie but… the vice-captain is amazing--so’s the Captain ‘course-- but Renji-san--”
He trailed off, and, after a moment gathered his shaggy bangs and pushed them off of his forehead.
“…you haven’t seen this either…” he started, hesitantly. He closed his eyes, and when the reprimand didn’t come, he opened them again and grinned bashfully. “Is it okay? I really like it. Makes me look tough.”
He stuck his chest out.
Then he changed his mind and breathed out.
“…hope you don’t mind…”
She didn’t seem to. The young man gazed quietly at the bowl between them. He shook his head, and looked off.
“I think,” he said quietly, “What I really want to ask is…”
He brushed a thumb over his nose.
“Would she have liked me?”
And the breeze that came from the outside doors made a noise like settling cloth. Rikichi had only just noticed it there.
“Do not,” said Byakuya, standing stiff and straight. The light was such that his shadow fell to the left and not over Rikichi, but the effect was almost there. “Look to me to presume what she may have said of you.”
“Sir.”
“Ask her by your own course.”
Rikichi smiled. “Yes, sir.”
