He owed his mom that much.
The Dean|Mary thing always hooks me in. ;)

I love the Dean and Mary connection. I hope it gets explored more in S4 :)

So many good Dean lines in here, and the priest, knowing what Dean does and still offering faith...
Nice work.

Dean breaks the heart ... every time, without fail. And this was no exception. And so true to form -- you can see him going to church one last time for his mom (wouldn't we all?) and then the priest/Dean interaction was really interesting. Your Dean voice was great!

I love the whole Dean and Mary thing whenever it pops up on the show :)

God, me too. What Is and What Should Never Be is one of my all time favorite episodes simply because of the Dean/Mary dynamic, especially the scene when Dean first sees her.
That man breaks the heart repeatedly.

Interesting look at one of the places Dean might have compelled to visit before the deal came due.

Nah, he was here because he knew that in two weeks, he'd never be able to come into a place like this ever again.
He owed his mom that much.
I really, really like this sentiment.
Sammy wasn't going to make the same mistakes he had. Even if it was his last dying wish - and Dean figured it pretty much was - he would make sure Sam understand what Pastor Jim had told him so many years ago. And unlike Dean, Sam would live by those words the way they were meant to be lived.
I like that Dean has faith in Sam to do that, but Sam's going to be so destroyed by his death, I think it'll be a long time before he can live by those words. *hugs Sam*
Nicely done.

I agree that Sam will be absolutely destroyed by Dean's death. I just don't think Dean tends to think of those things. I don't mean he's insensitive. I just think he believes sometimes that Sam has the inner strength to make it when he couldn't, since Dean had such low self-esteem. or maybe Dean just convinces himself of it because he doesn't want to consider the alternatives.

Thanks for reading!

I totally agree. And it makes me go, "Oh, boys."
