the (not-so-)long-awaited "general life" update

Things that most of you probably don't care to know:

1. In terms of school, everything's normal, pretty much. I've got my next exam on the 6th June, but I'm not sure which one it is, because Mum's stolen my timetable. Currently, I'm on study leave, which lasts until 19th June. What really sucks is that after exams are over, we have to go back to lessons, so we can start on the A2 course, instead of getting an extended summer holiday, like the year 11s. I have a grand total of eight exams left to do.

2. Book Club is just about finished, because there were only three of us there in the first place, Clare can rarely make it, and Alice is abandoning St. Mary's for... er... Hill's Road? Long Road? Perse Boys? I'm not actually sure where she's going. However, the main point is that my beloved club is done for. Dead. Woe is me.

3. Mr. Peachey never shows up for Creative Writing Club any more. It's getting quite irritating, especially since we were going to make our own short story collection.

4. Mrs. Brown is the bane of my existence. No, seriously - she's the first teacher I've ever actually hated (though Dr. Rist comes close, and so does Mrs. Galloway, these days).

5. Progress on The Book is nonexistent. sister_stick and I have decided to have a two-night sleepover sometime after exams, before study leave ends, so that we can work on it together, and eat chocolate fondue (which I have finally learnt how to make!).

6. I'm still reading A Darkling Plain, and I'm about a third of the way through. I have no idea why it's taking me so long to finish, though it might have somthing to do with the fact that I can't be removed from my computer for more than a few minutes without suffering withdrawal symptoms, or something of the kind. Tch.

7. I am unhealtily obsessed with Cascada//Everytime We Touch at the moment, as you might have noticed from the "current music" thingemy. I don't know why - it's not even that good - but I've had it on repeat for yonks, and I'm still not (too) bored of it.

8. My current animes are:
a) Princess Tutu - so much better than it sounds. On the surface, it's about a ballet-dancing duck, but... *wibbles* I don't know how to explain it, really. It's a "duck-turns-into-girl-and-girl-turns-into-Princess-Tutu-and-saves-the-prince" kind of thing.
b) Tsubasa Chronicle - the ultimate CLAMP crossover work, featuring characters from Cardcaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth and xxxHOLiC, amongst others. Also, DIMENSION TRAVEL! Sakura looses all her memories (which take the form of feathers), and Syaoran, Fye, Kurogane and Mokona have to travel through a whole load of different worlds to find them. But so much more. And I still have no clue what's going on with Fye, or that otherworld!Syaoran guy. And the movie was kind of crap. All very odd.
c) Weiss Kreuz - four assassins, fighting crime in Tokyo! Omi's backstory is absolutely fascinating, but I'm left on a cliffhanger because I can't find episode 15 on youtube, which sucks.
d) Cardcaptor Sakura - okay, so I saw bits and pieces of Cardcaptors, way back when it was showing on CITV, and I liked it, though I realise now that it was actually kind of crappy, and I wanted to see what the original, uncut version was like. It's better than expected, and I have a new obsession with Touya/Yuki, which is weird, because I never much liked either of them in Cardcaptors.
e) Naruto - 186 episodes, and still in the first season! Good - muchly so - but very, very exhausting.
f) Prince of Tennis - working on finding the rest of the Nationals OVA, which looks promising. So far I've only seen to first episode, and I haven't got a clue when the others are supposed to be coming out, which is annoying, but the main anime is already over, at 178 episodes.
g) Digimon Savers - not as good as I expected it to be, but okay, all the same. I can't really judge: I've only seen one episode.

9. New(ish) fanwork ideas:
a) The Springtime of Our Youth - Naruto, standalone, AU, GaaNaruGaa - I'm about a third of the way finished with it. And then I need to find a beta. Featuring Naruto, Gaara and Team Gai.
b) Higher - Prince of Tennis, standalone, AU, Yuuta & Ryoma gen - I cannot write Yuuta for sh*t, which doesn't help. What I really need is to find some good fics with well-characterised Yuuta in them, just to get an idea of how he's supposed to be done. Not giving away any spoilers, so I don't want to say much about the plot, but it's mainly centered around the Junior Senbatsu arc.
c) Onwards, Upwards (and don't forget to breathe) - Naruto, chaptered, AU, vague SasuNaruSasu & KakaRin - weird universe, featuring Rin, Naruto pretending to be her son, Kimimaro, Gaara and two OCs on an experimental genin team composed of genin from each of the allied shinobi villages. Non-traitor!Itachi, as well, which is just as odd an idea as the rest of it, if you think too hard. Still nowhere near done.
d) How to be Dead - Prince of Tennis, standalone, Mizuki, Yuuta & Fuji - precisely why Mizuki should never, ever have used Yuuta. Running from Mizuki and Yuuta's meeting to Mizuki's match with Fuji. On my to-do list, it says "attempt when feeling brave", which is probably the best method. So it won't be around for a while.
e) The Many Woes of Marui Bunta - Prince of Tennis, chaptered, vague MaruJi - a bizzare diry-fic idea I had. Basically, Marui, in second year, is being stalked by Jirou, and doesn't know quite how to handle it. Also featuring his discovery of the cake/gum-tennis combination he's so famed for, and various family issues. Humour, completely. I'll probably start working on it once I've read the manga, 'cause currently I know practically nothing about Marui's family, which doesn't really help much.
f) Untitled arc for fanfic100 - Harry Potter, chaptered, AU, Harry/Blaise - I need a title, people! Come on, surely you can help me with this much, right? Right? Already started posting, so I don't think the next installment will be too long coming.

Erm... that's it.
