This time, for Zo'omagos. And only two of them:
1. ‘Sh, Flame, m’love.’
‘Why do you call him that?’ Lei asked Tom as the horse-mage calmed Max’s stallion.
He met her eyes slowly and patiently, rather like a horse himself, and said with a small shrug, ‘I call ‘em all “love”. ‘S what they are to me, ain’t it?’
The question was rhetorical, and Lei didn’t answer it. Instead, she hopped down from her seat on the fence, hearing the race-bell, and ran off to answer her summons.
2. ‘Ow!’ Benji protested, pushing the thief boy off him and glaring in what he hoped was a fierce manner, though he thought he probably looked more disgruntled.
‘If you don’t want to get fallen on, then watch where you stand, Egit!’
Benji blinked. The boy certainly didn’t speak like a street kid, and his insults were relatively tame, compared to most of the other thieves Benji had come across. ‘Leave off!’ he said, struggling under the boy’s weight, ‘I ain’t with the Keepers!’
The boy took a step back and stared at Benji in surprise. ‘You just spoke street,’ he said, his large, blue-grey eyes accusing.
