Damnit, Lost a Day

I thought today was Wednesday, and I was gonna go to the evening food bank. Argh.

I tried giving Madeline the CBD oil on one of her Trader Joe's treats instead of by swiping it on her shoulder by putting the drop on my index finger, wiping off most of it with my other index finger, then scraping one treat across what was left on the first finger, so she really got less than .25 mg.  Didn't waste the rest of the drop as I just licked it up for myself (tastes like slightly fermented wheatgrass), then placed it on top of her kibble, CBG side down.  She ate it all up. :)  Her poop has returned to normal, too.

She's chillin' now while I make some sort of chunky chicken vegetable bean soup (too much liquid to call it chili, IMO, and no roux), and a shepherd's pie with shredded chicken instead of beef, because I bought two marinated chicken breasts last year and never used them (there's also a whole chicken and a pound of buffalo I need to use...eventually).  Cooking the chicken at the moment, and  learned that one should not try to pound a chicken breast in a small, crowded kitchen without it being in a bag.  Ooops.  Ended up butterflying it after all.

UPDATE:  Didn't realize the frozen pie crust I was not going to use wouldn't go in a freezer bag, so the shepherd's pie is becoming a giant pot pie.

TADA! It looks so beautifully terrible pre-bake that I just had to share!

I don't make my own crust because I'm terrible at them and don't have the room to roll them out, so I buy frozen for my quiches and other pies.  I only had the formed ones this time, tho, so in following the directions to just let one fall as it thawed, I get this.  The ridges from the other foil plate do make an interesting pattern.  I'm sure it will be edible.
