I have a headcold today, but got dressed enough to go out and get the mail, and at the same time see if I could find the kitty. After walking around one of the buildings, I managed to spy a spotted tabby coat half hidden by leaves, tucked in a corner on top of one of the groundcover bushes, fast asleep. Its been raining, and cold, and will be down to freezing tonight, so I made the decision after she woke up and came over to greet me that I had to take her in to the shelter tonight. No cat that has a home curls up and sleeps in the open when its 40 degrees and raining. Just got back from there.
Incidentally, she wasn't the cat in the Craigslist ad after all, but when I looked at the 'lost' board at the shelter, I pointed out two cats that she could possibly be to the volunteers, both older females. I HAD noticed the first time I met her that she had the 'withered' look to her paws that old cats get, but that can also be caused by starvation, and she had been hanging around for a month. The trouble is, she's a spotted tabby (as opposed to classic and mackerel) and if you photograph them at the wrong angles and pose the spots can meld into stripes, so even tho the two in the pictures looked like mackerel tabbies with some spotting they still could be her. I pray one of them is.
