"Stories never really end...even if the books like to pretend they do. Stories always go on. They don't end on the last page, any more than they begin on the first page." - Cornelia Funke (Inkspell)

91 / 90 Books read. 100% done!

★★★★★ - Fantastic novel. Very highly recommended.
★★★★☆ - Very good novel. Held my interest.
★★★☆☆ - A bad story that held my interest or a good story that didnt hold my interest.
★★☆☆☆ - Didnt hold my interest or was poorly written.
★☆☆☆☆ - Why did I even waste my time? Biggest waste of publishing money ever!

  1. Starstruck by Cyn Balog
    Began: 2011.07.30
    Finished: 2011.07.31
    Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Thoughts: I had such high hopes for this book. The story was unique and seemed interesting and like something I would like but I just couldnt get into it. The characters were stale and couldve been elaborated on more. The whole book was just very linear with little suspense or build up to the conflict. It left me feeling empty and disappointed. The potiential was high, but the execution was lacking.
  2. Sea Change by Aimee Friedman
    Began: 2011.07.31
    Finished: 2011.07.31
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This book took no time at all to read and held my interest firmly from the beginning. The characters are enjoyable, the romance is nice and the storyline was pleasant. The book left me with a calm happy feeling that I enjoyed. Its short, so it doesnt take much time to go through, but its a good read for a storm or such anyway. It isnt exceptionally fantastic or anything, but it was enjoyable and thats all that matters.
  3. First Frost (Mythos Academy #0.5) by Jennifer Estep
    Began: 2011.07.31
    Finished: 2011.07.31
    Rating: ★★★☆☆
Thoughts: This was really short, which is understandable considering it was just a prelude to the first novel. I love little books like this. They are a great way to build up interest the the novel itself and give you some extra insight into the character(s) in the story that are nice to know, but lag down the main story so they are cut out from the main novel. This novel talks about the event that leads up to the main character getting enrolled in Mythos Academy. I enjoyed it and couldnt wait to begin the main novel as soon as I finished it.
  4. Touch of Frost (Mythos Academy #1) by Jennifer Estep
    Began: 2011.07.31
    Finished: 2011.07.31
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: I was really suprised I liked this as well as I did. I love Mythology so I figured I would enjoy it, but I wasnt expecting to like it as much as I did. I was iffy at first about if I would like the main character or not but I quickly began to enjoy her and her personality. The novel was well paced and interesting. The plot was standard for a Myth novel but presented in an interesting way that kept my attention well.
  5. Kiss of Frost (Mythos Academy #2) by Jennifer Estep
    Began: 2011.12.13
    Finished: 2011.12.14
    Rating: ★★★★★
Thoughts: 4.5stars. This was really good. The twists were just as good as the first novel. I suspected Preston from the get-go but I didnt see Oliver's part in things coming. The new twist on the touch powers was nice too and the big bouts of information learned from the interigations sets up the next book wonderfully and makes me wish it was coming out soon instead of in six months.
  6. Ripple by Mandy Hubbard
    Began: 2011.08.01
    Finished: 2011.08.01
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: At first I wasnt certain I was going to like this book but it caught my interest immediently. The writing style leaves you hanging with each chapter in a way that you have to go right to the next chapter or you will break the spell that the previous chapter cast on you. I managed to finish it entirely in one sitting, not getting up even once which is highly unusual for me, someone who typically needs to stretch or use the restroom about a third in. The story was intriguing and the characters were likeable. The only offsetting part about it was that the basis of the plot was a love triangle, but the summary lets you know that so if you arent expecting it, then its your own fault. There were times that descriptions could have been better, but overall it was nicely written. I enjoyed it more than I had thought I would and am really glad I didnt put it off longer like I had originally intended.
  7. Firelight (Firelight #1) by Sophie Jordan
    Began: 2011.08.02
    Finished: 2011.08.03
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This book was fairly good. It kind of drags on I suppose. The plot is small and takes up the whole book with very little resolution, but things are handled in a way that you dont realize you were left lacking until later. I like it. Its nice having a small easy plot and then seeing how the plot is handled. Im a sucker for forbidden love though.
  8. Vanish (Firelight #2) by Sophie Jordan
    Began: 2011.09.15
    Finished: 2011.09.16
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This book was far less eventful that the first. It was also about 50pages shorter and you can feel it. You can tell that its much shorter. There wasnt anything else that couldve been put in and the story itself was kinda nonexistant. I still rated it well because it was entertaining, but overall things were randomly dragged out. This was the true definition of a filler book. I feel like this couldve been released as a #1.5 mini novel instead and shortened by at least 100 pages. The character of Corbin made such little sense that he better be gone into more in depth in the next book because he felt so pointless. Tamra finally manifesting was a suprise that I am still uncertain if I enjoy or not. Its almost like she needed to manifest for the story, because otherwise I see the third book being difficult, but at the same time it doesnt feel like it did much for the story, other than make things harder on Jacinda. I really feel sorry for Cassian. Ive read a lot of people say they didnt like him, but you get to see more to him. I kind of picture him like an emotionless quarterback. Totally misunderstood and stereotyped.
  9. Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #1) by Maggie Stiefvater
    Began: 2011.08.03
    Finished: 2011.08.05
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This book was really good. I wasnt expecting much from it, which was probably good, because if I had expected more I wouldve been disappointed. The love story is simple and nice, but overall I am not a fan of werewolf stories to begin with.
  10. Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #2) by Maggie Stiefvater
    Began: 2011.08.08
    Finished: 2011.08.09
    Rating: ★★★☆☆
Thoughts: I didnt like this book as much as the first. The story just seems to drag. The plot just isnt engaging enough for a trilogy. Im hoping that the third book will end well, because I wouldve liked to see this series be a big more engaging.
  11. Forever (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #3) by Maggie Stiefvater
    Began: 2011.08.09
    Finished: 2011.08.10
    Rating: ★★★☆☆
Thoughts: This book was just as bad as the last one. The series had a decent start and then things just went downhill. The story was simple and only barely engaging. I didnt find myself rooting for the romances and the characters. I was really empty and uncaring about it all in general. I was at one point desperate for the series to just end so I could be done with it. The story starts picking up fairly well really late into things and by then its too late to redeem it in the readers eye's. The ending was numb and gently vague. Its one of those endings where there are possible beginnings but they no longer relate to the story so they are hardly even hinted at. I didnt think I had expected much from the series, but I think I was hoping for more than what I got based on how my friends had enjoyed this series so I am fairly disappointed.
  12. Seven Tears into the Sea by Terri Farley
    Began: 2011.08.08
    Finished: 2011.08.08
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This book was light and somewhat unsatisfying but still enjoyable enough to have read. Things in it were presenting in a very matter-of-fact type of way which hurt more than it helped. The whole book lacked charm.
  13. Tempest Rising by Tracy Deebs
    Began: 2011.08.10
    Finished: 2011.08.11
    Rating: ★★★★★
Thoughts: This book was suprisingly good. I would give it a firm 4.5stars because it wasnt quite good enough to be 5stars but it was really good. The story was nice, the characters were relatable, and the descriptions were nice. I tore through the book and my interest held the whole time. It wasnt a remarkable story and it could have been expanded to be so much more epic really. Tempest is set up to be the girl of a prophecy, a mermaid of legend and yet the battle is a minor squirmish. Its not an epic tale, its just her getting the first taste of the life she was born into. There is much room left for the story to be expanded, although it is clear that there are no plans for that to happen. It was nice that the author builds you up without forcing you into an epic situation that would only be a let down. It was a nice alternative to other stories that are determined to be epic in their sizes.
  14. Hex Hall (Hex Hall #1) by Rachel Hawkins
    Began: 2011.08.11
    Finished: 2011.08.11
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This book was entertaining, though a little predictable. It reminds me a lot of the Mythos Academy series, which isnt a bad thing. The story is good, the characters are nice, and I enjoyed the whole thing through.
  15. Demonglass (Hex Hall #2) by Rachel Hawkins
    Began: 2011.08.11
    Finished: 2011.08.12
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This book is much nicer than the first. The story is expanded on much more and things get complicated. I love that I knew that Cal was going to be bethrothed to her. I loved the idea of it! Im still rooting for you Cal baby! I dont care if its impossible! This series is turning out to be really entertaining.
  16. Nevermore (Nevermore #1) by Kelly Creagh
    Began: 2011.08.12
    Finished: 2011.08.13
    Rating: ★★★★★
Thoughts: This book is fantastic. I am an avid fan of Edgar Allen Poe, and this story makes such good use of his works. There are times in the book where there is too much detail, and you want to skip past it to the dialoge, but the way Poe's works were integrated into the story, and the fact that the characters are likeable really makes things great. The whole thing about Isobel's friends freaking out about her having to do an English project with Varen doesnt really make sense. I mean, its a grade. She needs the grade to be a cheerleader. So he wrote his number on her hand, big deal. It was just something he did, not something that needed to be read into. The fact that her friends were so determined to make her miserable when all she wanted to do was pass when handed an assignment with someone she didnt want to work with just didnt make sense. It did allow for her to discover who her friends really were though and realize she was better off without them. She also got to learn more about Varen and its nice to see the walls come down as she falls for him. A lot about the dreamworld was poorly explained, but it works. Your given just enough to make it through the book and it leave in a bit of mystery. Poe's death is a mystery in its own, and all his work is open to interpertation, so leaving that air in this story just works well. I have to say, reading it I have a huge literary crush on Varen. Ive always loved a guy who can rock eyeliner though.
  17. You Wish by Mandy Hubbard
    Began: 2011.08.13
    Finished: 2011.08.13
    Rating: ★★★★★
Thoughts: I have seen reviews that say this is a horrible work of fiction, I think those people are nuts. This was so cute. I laughed through most of it. The whole premise is so rediculous that if it ever happened for real it would be hilarious. The girl gets a party she doesnt want and hates it. Her family are somewhat broken and she doesnt realize how unhappy she is with her life until things change. She wishes for her birthday wishes to come true because they never do and the next two weeks bless her with the birthday wishes of her past, even the ones that she wishes she had never made. The whole thing is just so out there, and admittingly the characters do lack some development. Some things happen and they seem like they should feel natural, but the execution wasnt there. Despite the fact that it wasnt literary brilliance, it was incredibly entertaining and I am so glad I picked it up.
  18. Raven by Allison van Diepen
    Began: 2011.08.14
    Finished: 2011.08.15
    Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Thoughts: This book was awful. The writing wasnt compelling. It was very dry and simple. It reminded me of an advanced version of the Dick and Jane books that teachers force on you when your learning to read but I was too advanced for and only upset my teachers because they didnt know what to do with me. There was also a lot of focus on the breakdancing, something I have no interest in or knowledge of. The author would talk about these moves and you would think they must be such important things in that world but without knowing what the terms meant you were left lacking. The style wasnt compelling and the characters lacked depth and focus. Even then ending was anticlimatic. The whole book was a snoozefest. Luckily it was wicked short. I was going to stop and switch to a different book and then noticed I was nearly done with so I just stuck through. 1.5stars, and it barely deserves those.
  19. The Ghost and The Goth (The Ghost and The Goth #1) by Stacey Kade
    Began: 2011.08.15
    Finished: 2011.08.16
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This story wasnt particularly brilliant, the characters werent fantastic, but the whole thing was really enjoyable. It wasnt a masterpiece, and it was so incredibly shallow, but it was cute and funny and a quick easy read.
  20. Queen of The Dead (The Ghost and The Goth #2) by Stacey Kade
    Began: 2011.08.17
    Finished: 2011.08.17
    Rating: ★★★☆☆
Thoughts: This book held much of the same feeling from the first book, but the plot was weak and not so well executed. It truely felt like a filler book.
  21. Avalon High by Meg Cabot
    Began: 2011.08.18
    Finished: 2011.08.18
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: I had seen the movie but not read the book and I have to say that the book is billions of times better. I enjoyed the story all the way though. It was obviously meant for the younger YA audience, but it was still enjoyable nonetheless.
  22. Eighth Grade Bites (The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod #1) by Heather Brewer
    Began: 2011.08.19
    Finished: 2011.08.20
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: 3.5stars. This book was horribly disappointing. It was interesting enough I suppose, but it was also kind of offputting. I liked that the lead was a male, it doesnt happen often enough in YA novels, but I think it began with him being too young to really have much of the character values you look for. Hes too weak and it hurts things. Sure, yes, he is 13 and a vampire and lost his parents in what is obviously a murder, but he still is just too emo. The story itself had a lot of potiential. The plot seemed interesting but the execution was lacking. Im hoping the rest of the series gets better, but Im not exactly in a hurry to move on to them.
  23. How to Ditch Your Fairy by Justine Larbalestier
    Began: 2011.08.30
    Finished: 2011.08.31
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: 3.5stars. This book was cute but it heavily lacked charm. It was kinda of drab really. You make it through and the story is cute and the characters arent horrible, but you arent connected or moved by the story. The ending is somewhat lame. The climax wasnt strong, the resolution was even weaker. It was a decent read for a younger audience, but even then it was badly written enough that it is almost an insult even to them. Overall it was entertaining enough to make me happy I read it, but it wasnt entertaining enough to be considered fabulous in the least.
  24. By Midnight (Ravenwood, #1) by Mia James
    Began: 2011.09.01
    Finished: 2011.09.02
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: I love that this was set in England and written in British tongue. I love books like that. The story itself wasnt horrid. The main character, April, is a bit too overdramatic and emotional in the most unnecessary way. The story is often just a big wall of text. Ramblings and descriptions and useless explainations that need broken up with more paragraphs. I would have a page and a half on my kindle that would be one paragraph, which would make the read tedious. I found myself skipping parts. April's overreactions took away from the general suspense and thrill that shouldve been second nature to this story. Questions are left unanswered, plot lines unresolved. I hate when a series is blantant about setting it up as a series. You know its going to continue and I feel that a series should have each book stop as if its the end. Sure, leave some loose ends, but dont be so obvious about it.
  25. Liar by Justine Larbalestier
    Began: 2011.09.02
    Finished: 2011.09.03
    Rating: ★☆☆☆☆
Thoughts: This book was awful and boring. The writing style was confusing and contradictory. I think that was the point. You go through the book and Micah the main character tells you things that later on she confirms are lies. You go through completely uncertain about what is truth and what isnt truth. It is a good idea right? The story kills it. The characters and plot are boring and drab. You cant get connected. Your completely disjointed from everything. The writing style sounds cool, but because the story and characters are so weak it becomes annoying and hard to stay interested in. This type of style could be interesting if the story was better. Want me to spoil it? Micah is a werewolf. Her little brother dies accidentially. She says she didnt kill him, but you are left uncertain if you believe it. Her parents abandon her to live with her hillbilly "kinfolk", also wolves, and she runs back, confesses what she is to her biology teacher who doesnt believe her until the shift. Then she gets a track scholoarship. Also, her boyfriend dies, killed by a wolf, though it was a different wolf who was her fault anyway because he shifted because she did. The end. You just saved yourself a hunk of boredom.
  26. Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn't Have) by Sarah Mlynowski
    Began: 2011.09.02
    Finished: 2011.09.03
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This book was really cute. The idea for it is simple and common but it was written out in an engaging way. Its fun starting a book at the beginning of the climax and then it backtracking to a few months before to let you read the buildup. Not every author can pull it off but it was done really well here.
  27. Spellbound (Spellbound #1) by Cara Lynn Shultz
    Began: 2011.09.03
    Finished: 2011.09.06
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This book was actually pretty cute. It wasnt heavily endearing and many will probably think it was dull. I enjoyed it. The storyline was pretty good and, not unique, but seldomly used. Two lovers have their souls bound and they get reincarnated throughout the ages and keep finding each other, but because of a curse the woman always dies. It played out really well. I enjoyed it a lot.
  28. Deception (Haunting Emma #1) by Lee Nichols
    Began: 2011.09.11
    Finished: 2011.09.11
    Rating: ★★★★★
Thoughts: 4.5stars. This was actually really good. Sure, the main character is typical. Most powerful of her kind, never seen one so powerful before or at least not in massive amounts of time, yadda yadda. It was predictable that she was "the one" and was "so powerful", but you come to expect that in YA fiction anyway. The story itself was pretty good. The characters were fun and easy to attach to. The story helf my interest really well, but wasnt really endearing. I laughed a few times through it but I didnt cry at the sad parts. They seem to be downplayed. It couldve been that the author didnt want to cause you pain, or it couldve been that they wanted you to stay cold about everything so you wouldnt be upset at how Emma gets so angry at things. Angry to the point of recklessness, because lets face it, summoning Neos was stupid. All in all it was really good though.
  29. Betrayal (Haunting Emma, #2) by Lee Nichols
    Began: 2011.09.11
    Finished: 2011.09.12
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This book wasnt as good. Seeds of doubt are planted and you want to follow them, but then you realize who the betrayer really is, just before it becomes obvious and your just crushed because you wouldnt want it but it just makes sense. You want the real betrayer to be the one you love, you really do and then you find out it wasnt and its just crushing. Bennett is so freaking predictable too. As soon as you learn about the drugs you know he is going to get addicted. Finding out that Sara was a ghostkeeper too was kinda annoying. Predictable much? She has the teeniest roll in these books and she is a bigger Mary Sue than Emma. Simon is adorable and I really wouldve liked to see Emma fall for him. I just liked him a lot even though his roll was as small as his powers. I continue to be baffled at how he was chosen to fine tune the team's powers when his were so shabby to begin with. Sure he is a bookworm, but him being their "power coach" made no sense. The story was more predictable and less captivating than the first book, but still nice enough that I enjoyed it well.
  30. Surrender (Haunting Emma #3) by Lee Nichols
    Began: 2011.12.13
    Finished: 2011.12.13
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This was a perfect end to this series. Things were paced rather well and the solution in the climax wasnt something I had expected, but it was very good. I was a bit disappointed with the post-climax. The climax and its ending was fabulous, but all the loose threads at the end just felt bland, almost like the author couldnt figure out how to actually close the story. Overall it was really nice and Im very pleased with how things turned out.
  31. As You Wish by Jackson Pearce
    Began: 2011.10.06
    Finished: 2011.10.06
    Rating: ★★★★★
Thoughts: This book was so horribly sweet and I cried through most of it. Its not your typical forbidden romance and its played out in this sweet little heartwrenching way. It was very short, but it wouldve been bad had it been any longer. Part of me wishes that they had given Jinn a real name, but it still worked. Its like them calling Genie by Genie even after he was free. It was a nice change from some of the books I have been reading, but was still light and fluffy enough for me not to be horribly moved past the moment of reading, which is something I needed.
  32. Beautiful Creatures (Beautiful Creatures #1) by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
    Began: 2011.10.06
    Finished: 2011.10.07
    Rating: ★★★☆☆
Thoughts: The prolouge of this book was unsettling. Im used to reading YA-Romances that are told from the girl's point of view. Its always like that in most YA-R so you get used to it. In the prolouge I seriously read it with a girls voice in my head. Its not until the first chapter that you learn its told from the boys point of view. This changes the whole feeling of the story. The fact that the prolouge doesnt tell you that the person speaking is a boy, leaves it unsettling and I actually had to re-read it in an attempt to start over so I didnt spoil the entire feeling of the book. Getting into the book, the whole Southern small hick town feeling was annoying, but it works all the same. The characters have a flatness to them while still being fairly well thought out. The entires book was unsettling. Its done by two authors, and its like one had all these great ideas and characters but the other didnt know how to present them without making them suck. The story was horrible and predictable, and the other characters aside from the main ones are annoying and unthought out. All the same, I enjoyed the entire thing. I loved that it was told from the boy's view for once in a YA-R, I liked the romance itself, the fantasy aspects were well described, and the whole Salem Witch Trials feeling that you got was something that I think helped endear the book to me since that type of stuff is really up my alley.
  33. Beautiful Darkness (Caster Chronicles #2) by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
    Began: 2011.10.08
    Finished: 2011.10.08
    Rating: ★★★☆☆
Thoughts: This book was more back-and-forth than the first one. You kept taking one step forward and then two steps back with random mile runs in it. It was really rather annoying and felt whiney at time. It got to the point where I wanted something to happen, something to be pushed onward. They were keeping so much from Ethan that shouldnt have been kept and he is just so slow anyway. You get annoyed at how slow he is. You see something happen in the visions and so he should KNOW this stuff and he still doesnt. Its like watching a movie and having no idea what the plot was even though you paid attention. Lena became annoying. I know they wanted her to seem broken, but I dont think she was meant to be unhinged. Ethan wasnt much better really. He came across more of a drama queen than anyone I have seen in a book anywhere. As it was, the best part of this book was Link. I adore him and Im excited that the next book is a mini book about him. Love Link so hard.
  34. Dream Dark (Caster Chronicles #2.5) by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
    Began: 2011.10.22
    Finished: 2011.10.22
    Rating: ★★★☆☆
Thoughts: This was just a short little side novel. Just like the other books it was disappointing. The set up for the next book begins to go into gear in this book and it just shows that the plot is getting more and more predictable and cliché.
  35. Sweet Venom (Medusa Girls #1) by Tera Lynn Childs
    Began: 2011.10.21
    Finished: 2011.10.22
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: This book wasnt overly fantastic. It didnt stand out in amazing ways. But it was still really good. The whole book was about character and plot development, and considering that there are 3 main characters, the whole book was needed for it. Having three main characters is a bit overwhelming, but it was worth it. The story seems like its been building enough to be strong and Im really looking forward to the next installment.
  36. Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side (Jessica #1) by Beth Fantaskey
    Began: 2011.10.23
    Finished: 2011.10.23
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: I didnt have very high hopes for this book. Between the synopsis and the title it didnt seem like it would be very good at all. I was happily suprised. The entire thing was well written, decently descriptive, and entertaining. Both characters were developed and thought out. The side characters werent fantastic, but were also well done. There was little need for the characters to be evolved farther. I admit to having a bit of a hazy look at the appearance of most of the characters, aside from a few key features you are left very much to your own imagination on them. The story wasnt overly moving or captivating, but it does draw you in and make you wish to continue. I enjoyed it very much.
  37. The Wedding of Antanasia Jessica Packwood and Lucius Valeriu Vladescu (Jessica #1.5) by Beth Fantaskey
    Began: 2011.10.23
    Finished: 2011.10.23
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: For this being a small side story, it was very wonderful. The descriptions are just as wonderful as in the main novel and the entire thing plays out perfectly and affectionately. The love between Lucius and Antanasia is obvious and endearing and makes you enjoy the two of them so much more. This is a free novel that you can read right off the Author's website. I cant read long amounts of text on a computer screen since getting my kindle, so I took the time to copy/paste the whole thing into a document and send it off to my kindle. If you want, I can send it to you. Just ask.
  38. Immortal (Immortal #1) by Gillian Shields
    Began: 2011.10.23
    Finished: 2011.10.24
    Rating: ★★★★☆
Thoughts: 3.5 stars. This book was simple and fairly straightforward. Everything was predictable. Not a literary peice of work, but still a nice read. If your looking for something new and fresh and exciting, this book isnt it. Its seriously your same old run of the mill YA fiction that you read everywhere. That aside, it was well written, the characters are nice enough, and it held my interest. The fact that it was short might have really been it's saving grace.
  39. Betrayal (Immortal #2) by Gillian Shields
    Began: 2011.10.24
    Finished: 2011.10.25

Thoughts: 4.5stars. This book was just wonderful. You knew where things were going as it continued to be straight forward and played out. It was easy to predict. Its a tragic romance, but it was so wonderfully done and I cried so hard that I just couldnt not love it. As predictable as it was, it was still great. This wouldve been a perfect ending to the series, so Im suprised there is another novel really.

Thoughts: This book was pretty good. A bit cliché at times. The writing was linear, the betrayals were obvious, the setup was obvious. It was still a good read though. The book held my attention. It wasnt a fantasticly written book by any means though.

Thoughts: This book wasnt horrible but it wasnt good either. The story had potiential. It is different than most of your standard angel stories and that gave it a leg up in originality but the execution just wasnt there. The pacing was all over the place, too many things were touched and then never gone back to, character development was stunted, and the ending was just off. The ending is jutted, people appear and they arent explained well enough as to how they get there. Sure there are reasons but they dont feel believeable. I think all the scripture killed it for me too. I have nothing against Christians, I used to be one myself, but the way they are protrayed here in this book is a clear shot at the very Christians who give others a bad name. These are the ones who follow the faith as a cult more than a religion. The ones who see only the evil in the Bible and live in fear of their God. God is hope and life and love, he is not to be feared. I know that things like this happen, even in a world full of advanced in knowledge and technology as the one we live in, but the way it was shown in this book left a very sour taste in my mouth and took away from it even more. The only true gem in the book was Auntie. I adored her. I wept when she died and although her secretive nature was frustrating, I still loved her. All in all the book was entertaining enough if you take everything with a grain of salt, but if you are easily offended when it comes to religion in any form I say steer clear.
