Well today I finished the book "Unshapely Things" by Mark Del Franco. Picked it up last Friday at the signing at Pandemonium Books. www.markdelfranco.com for more info. Urban Fantasy set in Boston, I think
robdamnit would get a kick out of it. Bit of a murder mystery, bit of an action adventure and no romance. For a first novel and first intro into an alternate Boston it did a very remarkable job of balancing out the introduction and justification of the Fey in the Modern World. One can always sit back after a read and say, "I would have done it this way" but the reality is, he wrote it and its very palatable. He is writing a sequel which I will pick up when I see it in print. One of the minor characters, Meryl, has some great lines that I mentally use the voice of one of the people on my floor at work. I encourage other people to at least look at the first chapter online to see if it appeals. More copies available at Pandemonium and Boskone. It should be easy to pick Mark out of the crowd at Boskone, he'll be the cute one who isn't Stephen Pagel.
