Yes, I hate banks. I've been having a bit of trouble with mine. The one named Regions. They're not as bad as Bank of America, but... ever since Regions and AmSouth merged, it's been one headache after another.
See, for a while, I wasn't handling my finances correctly and got behind on overdraft fees. Now, I've finally worked myself out of that slump. And then what happens? Well, the banks were closed on Monday for COLUMBUS FRIGGIN DAY. Seriously... *sigh* Anyways, I made sure everything was recorded in my register each time I swiped that debit card. It had been explained to me that each time I swipe that little plastic card, the money is taken out of my account instantly. Okay... no worries. So far, so good.
Until I check my online balance yesterday and it is in the negative for about $28+ with two more authorizations pending (plus the oncoming NSF fees for those too!) The NSF fees are $35 a pop. Well, I see on my ONLINE statement that is provided by REGIONS bank that they took out two NSF fees while I still had a positive balance thereby putting me in the negative! So I call 1-800-REGIONS and talked to a very nice lady who couldn't help me at all. I went into the branch, talked with manager who explained to me that they have a different report that shows when they took everything out even though she ALSO said that when I swipe my card it comes out automatically. Anyone else confused????
So, she told me that she would try and overturn those NSF fees and get back with me today. She called me today and told me she couldn't because of my account history! WTF????!!!!! It is BECAUSE of my account history and the fact that I've been a customer of Regions for SIX years that they SHOULD. So... what did I do besides rant and rave in my head??? *Grins evilly* I lodged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I'll be damned if I will pay $105 to a bank when the money was in there before they took the damn NSF fees out.
So... what will I do??? As soon as I get paid, my money and I are going to another bank... well, credit union really. One that I know will treat my money and I a lot better. One where I can actually earn INTEREST in what is in my checking account. One that while I'm there, I can give Regions the finger. Not like they would be sorry to see me go, but it makes me feel better all the same.
