The Lifecycle of the Relay for Life.

Jun 13, 2007 09:18

I think firestar_storm said a lot about the Relay for Life 2007.. so do go see her entries for details and more pics..

Basically, here's the Recap..
The Relay for Life 2007 was held on June 9th and 10th (Last weekend) in the Yuba Village (as my Indian programmers at work say) from 9am Sat to 9am Sun. And although the event itself was a great success... I want to highlight the behind the scenes stuff...

Since last year, Participating individuals of the Team: St.Michael's Warriors have had the Theme and the 2007 booth and presentation in mind. And, with anything since a year ago, there has been many changes (i.e., members moving out of town, etc.) so the team this year was somewhat less.. but this did not stop us. As soon as we knew that we were approaching "THAT TIME" we began planning...

Late 2006, people such as firestar_storm talked with the "SaintsMama" about the duties of Team Captain.. And, she is going to be modest and say it was nothing, but I want to put her in the limelight to say, that firestar_storm did a fantastic job... she attended all the Organizations Team Captain's Meetings keeping those directly involved (such as myself and dagda16 and family informed. My role was basically like a Art Director.. LOL if there really was a title so... Artist will do.. :) {shocking - I know}

From before the 2006 holidays, we had planned for the Theme Arabian Nights, to go with the onsite fundraiser "Henna" tattooing that is a great money maker..
From collecting supplies to constructing cardboard set designs and carving Gourd props, to creating the "for sale" adornments.. We all worked steadily till it was done.

Before I get to any pix, I want to give a Thanks to the following Peeps:
~ firestar_storm for being a great Team Captain and a good sport in the helping with all the art stuff... I know I can be bossy..

~ Furge for being patient with us, and our endless projects, and helping with the gourd creating.. sorry about the dust cloud!

~ Ms. Dagda16 and dagda16 for all the work on the scarves and help with set-up, scaffold construction, walking,booth manning, food/snack donations and donating tent/supplies.

~ Bunny for assistance with Henna production, and keeping the group moving and face painting.

~ vehlondra for help with henna production, walking and kids.

~ silverflight and the_dean donating supplies that helped greatly by providing the necessary fabric needed to transform our mundane modern tents into bedouin tents.

~ the children which includes K.C., churtle, Dagda16's kids and more... for all the helping with advertisement and walking efforts..

~ and any others ... thanks for all the walking support...

...I will not give thanks to myself... I repeat, I was simply the artist..
