Venus appears!

May 08, 2009 11:28

Venus turned with a small laugh to face Artemis, amused by his not-so-subtle insinuations about her courtship- or rather, the lack there of. He well knew why she would accept no suitors, although she tried those who tried respectfully; there was one she had already given her heart to. It was a trade forged in the heat of a battle neither had ( Read more... )

A white-haired young man has found himself here, easily recognizable as the shitennou Zoisite. He frowns, looking around himself, and then catches sight of Venus. He gives her a somewhat serious look.

"Venus," he greets her.

"Zoisite," she called, both somewhat concerned at the shitennou's appearance, as well as pleasantly surprised. It was not often that he made it to Venus, and she enjoyed his company when he did. "What has brought you to Venus?"

He continues to look at her, unwavering, for several moments.

"It is chance," he says finally.

"Truly?" She arched an amused eyebrow at him. "I had not thought you left much to chance. Perhaps I was wrong?" Her tone was teasing, and she moved closer, gathering her gowns in one hand for ease of movement. She still knew that something was wrong with the situation, and she would transform instantly if a threat presented itself.

This happy, almost playful Venus is not quite as he remembers. Zoisite hesitates uncertainly before simply saying, "I arrived here by mistake. If it troubles you, I will return."

"Not at all. I am more troubled by the disappearance of the other Venusians, but I would welcome your company. Perhaps you can shed some light on the situation?"

He has a keen awareness that makes Zoisite typically a good source for concise explanations of strange things. He had been the one to remind the master - all of them - of the past life in the Dark Kingdom.

So what Zoisite says now is simply, "This is a place where time and space are unstable. You may encounter anyone, perhaps or perhaps not as you know them. You should be aware of that."

"I see," she answered with a slow nod of her head. If the shitennou spoke the truth, it was a grave matter indeed, and she could think of no reason for him to lie. "This is a phenomenon you are familiar with, it seems."

"Yes. It has been happening for some time." He doesn't elaborate; there is no need to. Zoisite seems, to outward appearances at least, to be more interested in the dimly-familiar surroundings than their inhabitant, as he glances at a few ornaments that catch his notice for one reason or another, angled slightly away from Venus.

The way he slowly examined their surroundings seemed to be telling in a way. It was the way he had been in years past, before his trips to her planet had become more frequent, and before both of their worlds had finally settled into peace. She smiled again in remembrance, and let him look.

"It was an unfortunate time for this to occur. Artemis will be quite flustered by the disappearance of the castle."

He shakes his head, dismissing the worries: "People seem to return to their own places and times without incident." He adds the obligatory warning: "Unless the danger comes from those they encounter here."
