He's looking down at his hands, very much lost in thought. He has been busy mopping the floors until Nephrite has felt... something... but cannot define it. He dares not hope, but this feeling... this is something reminiscent of his days before, something he felt only as a Shitennou. This burst of power. Could it be... that...?

Minako practically waltzes into the place, eyes bright with anticipation. "Uwaaa! I always thought Motoki-san should do karaoke too! This is great! Everything looks so professional!"

She blinks, looking down at Nephrite. She isn't sure this is the one she knows, so she goes for a neutral compliment, or what she considers one. "And so does the help! Good job! Continue to do your best!"

Really, she's just excited the nexus didn't bring her to the Dark kingdom again, as much fun as she had last time.

He looks up, and is taken aback. This one... is she...?

"Venus."

Minako's smile turns into a half-hearted scowl. "So it is you, Nephrite. This is where you work? It's awesome!"

[nephenie]

Awe...some?

He averts his eyes. It was different, her seeing him in the forest. At least he could pretend that he belonged there.

Her seeing him here... it was humiliating. Degrading.

At least the senshi of his world did not know him.

"What are you doing here?"

[senshi_of_venus]

"I don't really know." Minako walks over to the counter, looking over. "I think the nexus did it. But I thought I'd come and check out Crown! I want to see if they have any of my songs available!"

[nephenie]

He drags his feet, intending to go to the counter, but stops. "Songs," he repeats. "Do you mean the irritating sounds that comes out of odd things that stupid, insane people enjoy?"

Minako narrows her eyes, but she can't hold the look for long; when she's in a good mood, she's in a good mood. She bursts out laughing, nearly tipping over the desk. She rights herself easily enough, then turns to look at Nephrite. "Exactly what I mean, yes. Do you know how to work the equipment?"

[nephenie]

"E...quip...ment." He frowns as he repeats this odd word. "Equipment. What does it mean?"

"The equipment. The machines that make the songs come out?" Minako raises an eyebrow. "You haven't been trained to do that yet?" She shrugs, looking over where the rooms are. "It's okay. I'm sure I can figure it out."

[nephenie]

He shrugs at that. He does not, after all, really understand what she's saying.

A beat, and then he demands, "Where is it?" He is referring to the one the human turtle usually asks people to show him before admitting them in.

"...where is what?" Minako's eyebrows furrow. "I don't know where anything is, I don't work here."

[nephenie]

He furrows his brow. "That small--" He tried gesturing with his hands - rectangle, small, but each moment only frustrates him even more, until finally, he pounds a fist and says, "Just go do what you want!"

He would never fit in, anywhere, after all.

Minako sighs, trying to follow Nephrite's clues. Rectangle, small...

Rummaging around in her purse, she pulls out her cellphone, a gift certificate, some yen, a--okay, putting that right back in there.

"Is this what you mean?" Minako holds out the gift certificate for several seconds before she realizes she's got the wrong piece of paper. She changes it for the yen. "I don't want to steal a karaoke room, Nephrite."

[nephenie]

"Of course you wouldn't! A small thing like you?" he snarls.

He shakes his head at the things - more human things, he thinks in disgust - that she has shown him, and none of them matches the description he has in mind.

"Do what you want," he tells her. "If something goes wrong or missing, I'd be sure to tell the turtle guy it's because of you."

"...okay, what's going on?" Minako crosses her arms, leaning against the counter. "Did we have a particularly nasty run in with Dark Mercury?"

He raises a brow at her, his expression more of how the hell did you know? Instead, Nephrite asks, "What makes you assume that?"
