Deep thoughts

He's looking down at his hands, very much lost in thought. He has been busy mopping the floors until Nephrite has felt... something... but cannot define it. He dares not hope, but this feeling... this is something reminiscent of his days before, something he felt only as a Shitennou. This burst of power. Could it be... that...?

"Jadeite," he says, surprised. "Are you... the same one before?" The one who showed compassion towards him, he means.

[nephenie]

"You felt it, then?" he asks, leaning over the counter in earnest. Nephrite shakes his head. "The power... I do not know if it is mine. All I know is that it is sudden, this feeling. But... I'm not certain..."

He knows he is rambling, but he is too confused. "All I know is that this... is something long absent from me. Ever since I became human."

[nephenie]

He looks down at his hands, bites on the inside of his cheek. He doesn't want to hope. But--

He nods, and focuses on the stack of things the human turtle had told him to clear up. Nephrite closes his eyes, wills a blast of energy to emerge from his palm.

Nothing.

[nephenie]

He doesn't meet Jadeite's eyes. He curls his hands to fists, cursing himself for daring to hope.

Without warning, he yells angrily and shoves the pile onto the floor, causing everything to crash down and break. Its sound echoed in the room.

[nephenie]

"Don't talk as if you understand!" he yells again, glaring at the replaced things on the counter. He isn't angry at Jadeite; he is merely angry.

[nephenie]

"You will help me? How? By standing there and telling me what to do?"

He catches himself, and turns away, embarrassed. "Jadeite," he says, very quietly. "I--" Nephrite pauses, unsure of what to say.

[nephenie]

He nods, relieved. He does not want to lose Jadeite's sympathy, at least. Not when the alternative if his scorn.

"I can still feel it," he says. "The power. Perhaps I need to re-learn the basics." How lowering, humiliating. But it's all he can do, for now.

[nephenie]

He snorts at that. "Kunzite?" he repeats, brows raising. "Any of the Kunzites would take one look at me and mock me. Blame me as if losing my power was my fault." He has met a few, and all of them - annoying as hell.
