The caverns of the Dark Kingdom are eerily still and quiet. Zoisite, Nephrite, and Jadeite. These are the ones who remain to her. Beryl stands facing the spot where Metalia's radiance had shone so brightly, now dark and blank and empty as the halls themselves.
It's a little like cutting off her arm to save it from gangrene would be, she thinks. This was the end that must come, for the planet's sake. Even so, Beryl stares at nothing for some time, as if expecting, or even believing, Metalia still to be there. Those arms hang loosely at her side. This leaves her back to the entrance into the wide audience chamber.
