It's Valentine's!

Feb 15, 2009 09:09

An odd thing has happened in this corner of the moonlocket space. Everything imaginable for a stereotypical Valentine's Day is available.

A row of stores lines the street, boasting wares from chocolate (for those girls too lazy busy to make it by hand) to jewelry. For those interested in a hands-on and do-it-yourself approach, there is even a building ( Read more... )

Mercury is here! She's happily busy working on...

Making chocolate. Yes, seriously. Traditions die very very very hard for this girl, and she has a group of boys men boys she feels a lot of gratitude towards and that she wants to do something for. She's good at small gestures.

This, she manages to do well; it's closer to cooking than baking and just a matter of keeping a close eye on the candy. Nothing too intricate or fancy, but there's a small package for each shitennou from her world and a few boxes lounging around.

Come collect them, boys.

Nephrite's always been a bit partial to sweets. So when he finds Mercury, and chocolates... well, it's a good combination.

"Ah! Hello, Mercury."

She should have known: make good-smelling sweets, and certain younger shitennou will appear. She glances away to hide a brief grin at his expense that Nephrite may not appreciate.

Mercury's own reaction to the meeting is somewhere between awkward, pleasant, happy, and still not quite sure of herself in these situations. Nonetheless, she holds out one of the packages to Nephrite.

"Go ahead," she invites.

First the soup, and now the chocolates. Mercury was definately spoiling her the boys.

Nephrite glances to the package at first, then takes it from her hand. "If it's anything like your soup, it'll be good, I'm sure."

"You can eat them now, if you want," Mercury tells Nephrite. Why is she suddenly so unsure of herself? Shouldn't it be easy to make a friendly gesture towards her comrades and friends?

There's a small mountain mound of dishes to be done before she leaves here, but Mercury ignores them for now since she has company of a sort.

Nephrite wastes no time in tearing into the small package. He's not like one of those kids that neatly open presents. They were his, and he had a right to demolish the packaging if he so chose!

He pops one of the chocolates into his mouth, letting it slide around on his tongue for a moment befor eshe chewed and swallowed. "That was decadent."

It really is like watching an over-sized kid. Mercury even has to restrain the urge to 'help' Nephrite open the package more neatly. The enthusiasm is... gratifying, she supposes. It makes her happy to see him enjoying himself.

"I think it's better to open it carefully," she suggests quietly.

Ask and ye shall receive. Jadeite is here! He's attracted by the delightful smell of chocolate. He stops in the doorway of the kitchen Mercury's working on, and a smirk quirks the corner of his lips upwards.

"Valentine's chocolate?" he asks Mercury with a rather wry tone. "Somehow it suits you!" He ventures closer.

"Don't tease!" she says a bit sternly, but she doesn't seem to mean it much. A sly look. "Otherwise I won't give you one after all."

"Oh?" The smirk widens, and he places a hand to his chest and bows shortly. "My apologies. Please forgive my rudeness." He's being somewhat playful, but the chocolate does look good.

Forgive him? He's being on his best behavior! (For now.)

"Since you've apologized properly," Mercury tells Jadeite airily, as if he were being serious and she being gracious.

"I'll forgive you and even give you a gift," So now the Valentine's gift is in recognition of his apology and 'respect', hm?

"You're much too kind," he replies with another appreciative nod of his head. He fails to stifle the quiet chuckle that comes after. The youngest shitennou comes closer to receive his gift.

"Of course I am," she teases. And this time, she hands the package directly to Jadeite. She's sampled one or two (not his, of course) and she knows they turned out well. Here's hoping he likes chocolate.

"I'll trust it since you're a good cook. And we're friends of course." Another smirk. He nods his head as he takes the package. "May I try it now? I can immediately blame you if I was wrong in my faith."

He shakes his head slightly as though to call truce (for the next statement at least). "I'm sure it's delicious."

She'd just opened her mouth to protest, probably somewhat sharply, when Jadeite's next words cut her off. "Only to make you stop saying that sort of thing," she says haughtily. "I'll allow you to try it."

"Of course," he answers obligingly. He opens the package not with a sense of decorum. Not like certain other uncouth shitennou who probably ripped their package open and devoured the contents of the box like a greedy child.

He samples one, carefully considering the flavor (or so it looks. He's probably just taking his time to show appreciation. Or he takes his time in eating chocolate). "It's good," he proclaims after finishing that piece, nodding his approval. "Thank you."
