The silence was deafening.
The girl moved, her pale figure wearing the same, simple white dress she'd been wearing for over a millennium. The ruins of the Moon Kingdom rested around her, never changing, everlasting, destroyed. Much like herself. She had been one of the princess' ladies-in-waiting; a bit low on the royal totem pole, but important nonetheless. Part of the fabric that kept the Moon Kingdom running smoothly.
After the Dark Kingdom had attacked, she had been one of the first to die. She was merely another casualty of war, a person in the way of them getting to the princess. When her eyes next opened, she was alone, the ruins of the palace laying around her. She didn't know about the rebirth; didn't realize she had been left behind. All she knew was that there was nobody, not one. Now and then, she thought she saw the Queen, but the glimpses were so brief and so fleeting that she always thought them visions, hallucinations induced by so much time alone.
And the silence... that was what bothered her the most. Even when there were no musicians playing in the garden or in the palace, there had been fountains, people... noise. And now, there was nothing. Just the girl, her thoughts, and all the rubble. And so it had been for millions of years.
Looking down at the Earth, she sat down on a broken pillar, a small smile on her face. She often remembered the Princess talking about the Earth, of its many wonders and of the love she had found.
"I hope she found her happiness," whispered the girl, folding her hands in her lap and just gazing at the planet.
