When too many Amis need to do too much research...

The nexus opens up. It's an incredible sight. Miles of bookshelves stretch from floor to ceiling. But this is no simple repository. This library goes even beyond the vaults of the Silver Millenium or Crystal Tokyo. It has volumes lost to history, books from the present, and tomes not yet written.

Ami's interested in this equation! She looks up.

"I've been getting to know my alternates," she says, with a slightly sly look towards her younger self. There are so many people who should probably be warning the sweeter Ami about the girl she's sitting with.

"Kunzite..." Ami looks up, also surprised, but she smiles. "I've been researching what we talked about last time." Alternate confusion, she has it.

It's because she's such a kind person. Don't ruin her fun by saying anything, either, Kunzite. Ami smiles pleasantly, which probably means she's enjoying pulling one over on her alternate. Or perhaps she really is just caught up in this fantastical library.

"Why not sit down?" she invites.

Ami nods quietly. "We discovered we were both researching where Metalia might have gone when it disappeared." Disappeared, not 'was defeated'. And if it strikes her that it's odd her older self is looking for this, too, she assumes it's some twist of the various worlds.

Ami tries not to think of just who it is standing there. It's easier if it's just Kunzite, and not the one she wronged. She suddenly becomes very fascinated by her book, letting the younger Ami and Kunzite talk uninterrupted for now.

"We know Metalia came from the sun," Ami begins. "And somehow found its way to Earth and hid there until it was awakened. But it disappeared from my world after Beryl was defeated." To her, this is not only the normal state of affairs but one Kunzite would approve of; the senshi and shitennou had both worked against Beryl by the end.

"We need to find where it would have gone. But I don't have a good idea yet."

That makes Ami look up. She supposes she's still envious of Kunzite's ability to put things aside, to refuse to be controlled by the emotions any Kunzite must be feeling after hearing death was the fate of his sworn liege.

She can also remember being threatened for simply associating with him because of that loyalty. She wonders sometimes why things always manage to get that complicated.

"Do you know anything more?" she asks him directly, finally speaking up. "After all, it's possible she's gone into the nexus." And if that's happened, she could very well have access to innumerable worlds.

"In the nexus?" It isn't that Ami hasn't considered that possibility, too, but... If it's right, it's terrible news. And it's a failure of her world that will put other worlds at risk. She hopes it's something else, somewhere else.

"Are you saying I'm such a fool I'd stop looking?" Ami retorts, earning her a quick (and quickly hidden) surprised look from her alternate, who isn't so brash.

"I think Kunzite was saying we should wait to worry about that," Ami suggests quietly, in what is probably a vain attempt to defuse the situation. She turns to Kunzite.

"Could she make a new Dark Kingdom?"
