Nephrite notices. Because it's his business to notice things like that. And to give him credit, his first thought is Zoisite. (When things go weird with music? The weird guy is somewhere around. It's a natural law or something.)

He'd say people will probably notice the music... but they probably won't.

"What are you doing here?" His brows knit together in brief confusion until he answers himself. "The nexus, huh?"

"Shopping." And he just dares Zoisite to make any jokes or mock him. His eyebrow twitches upward.

He's not sure what he thinks about that anymore. Nephrite shrugs, and dumps a few boxes of cereal into the cart. These will be his snacks for the next day week or so.

"Maybe this suits me instead." He'd been fired up to try to see Zoisite, but he hasn't been able to see Zoisite. He's starting to get used to this sort of life.

Heh. Maybe that's almost worse than the creepiness, that way Zoisite always seems so confident. It makes Nephrite uncomfortable, like he should understand, too, and he doesn't.

"I guess I know what you're trying to say," he says. "It's about the past, right?" He suddenly finds the shelves fascinating, but he keeps talking. "I want to know about that, too." He doesn't want to stay away from them if they're supposed to be together.

"And then I'll figure out how to get my power back," he says. "Right?" That's... probably at least half of what he's in it for when he takes any steps towards the past.

Nephrite might be ridiculed for his lack of brains and foresight sometimes, but he can reason his way through this much: If he remembers, if nothing else, that should include remembering things about how he used his power in the past. And that might give a clue.

"Is it possible to get them back if my stone is really damaged?" he asks. Zoisite always seems to know more about these things.

Well, that's good news at least. It's definitely not completely hopeless if there are worlds where it already happened.

Wait a minute. He knows Zoisite. And he knows Zoisite should be telling him exactly how those powers came back right about now, because Zoisite will want him to get them back and remember and serve the prince and blah blah blah.

So the fact that Zoisite isn't saying much... says a lot. "Did something happen?"

Akai decides that his schooling should go towards the goal of becoming a dentist, because pulling teeth will be a lot easier than getting straight, informative answers from Zoisite.

"What happened?" he asks.
