can has truth, and possibly devo please? waterfell May 5 2010, 01:22:49 UTC
The flames should be a sickening sight. The stench of burnt flesh should be a sickening smell. The mood of the crowd is ugly, and for a moment it reminds her of her world and the temper of the city there.

Ami comes clad just like any other member of Kunzite's retinue, thanks to quick action with her teletia-S. She approaches him respectfully, fan hiding much of her face, and she bends down towards him as if she's one of those carrying messages from one of the other noble households.

"Mercury is here." He'll recognize her voice, of course, she assumes; and they can enjoy this sight together. She certainly plans to.

There's a little smirk, as he hears her voice and his eyes flit up to meet hers behind that fan. Of course the nexus has brought her here this day, such a day of celebration for the Golden Kingdom, and he will enjoy watching the sight with her by his side. It matters not, that her presence is not hidden from those in the royal stands who would recognize her, only enough that she will not be recognizable as the senshi of Mercury. So he motions for her to take up a place beside him, in that guise of a servant, and continues to watch the witch burn.

The eyes hold a hint of mischief as Ami keeps the rest of her face modestly covered. If there are other lesser nobles craning to see just which girl Kunzite is favoring with a seat beside him, they get no answer. Some probably console themselves with the idea that he's just being attentive to a servant faint from the heat.

Ami herself knows better, of course, and enters their easy conspiracy with a light heart. But it turns more serious as she gives proper attention to the proclamation. When the pyre is lit, she does not turn away from it.

"She thought she would take this planet," she remarks.

"She was mistaken." The smirk does not fade, his eyes unwavering from that sight of death that burns to brightly before them. If his hand finds hers, however, perhaps to the shock of those who might see, it can be explained away as just that...

"You should not fatigue yourself so." The words are a bit louder, just as casual, and cause the eyes of several passing servants to widen. "You will be no good to me if you do not relax to enjoy the sentencing, and learn the lesson our king has so wisely put before us."

What? Realization dawns quickly, though, and she follows his lead, raising her voice just enough to be heard and seem mostly natural. "Thank you, Kunzite-sama," she agrees.

She tries not to laugh as she says the words mostly to tickle his fancy with their implications. She lowers her voice for just them to hear, and speaks what's truly on her mind.

"This is the fourth. This is the fourth time I've seen her die. And there will be more of her. She's really endless."

"Then you have taken pleasure in her death four times over, I presume." The side look directed to her is complete with an arched eyebrow, and the amusement that seems to consume him today, eternally as he watches his enemy merrily burn away in the crackling flames. "Should I be envious?"

"Oh? Is my record surpassing Kunzite's?" Ami grins slyly, and far too brightly. "If you work hard, you can catch up!"

Ami becomes a fraction more serious, though she still remains undisturbed by the scene playing out in the flames. "But, what I really want is for her never to appear before me again."

"If you desire so, have you lost your pleasure in seeing her blood?" The words are easy, almost in direct contrast to the ever so slight squeeze his hand gives her fingers as his smirk remains in place. "If you desire such... remind yourself of such pleasure."

He always knows just how to entice her forward. Yes, not necessarily Beryl but yes she wants to recapture that pleasure, that glee, that heightened thrill of satisfaction. Her eyes darken with the thought. But she turns away the answer of Beryl.

"I have a different prey now."

"I would enjoy seeing you hunting them." The eyes that flicker to her only briefly, still quite conscious of the prying gazes watching them, are full of a dark enjoyment and pleasure at the thought.

"Why not join me?" The invitation is delivered in that same tone, but it's oh so sincere. She's always her best at his side; especially in battle. Ami keeps herself from touching him like she wants to, but her mind is so very conscious of their closeness.

"If the opportunity arises, I would relish fighting with you, as always." After all, there are no others that can match his bloodlust in battle, or that seems quite as lovely when tearing through the enemy ruthlessly.

Together there's no enemy they can't destroy and put at their feet, broken. Ami's smile broadens. She's starting to find that glee again after all. And if he's beside her, encouraging it, reveling in it himself, she can let herself go in it.

"Kunzite," she says as her lips stay curved upward, "I'm starting to enjoy this even more again."

This close, of course he recognizes her even partly hidden. If she's taken by surprise by his polite greeting, she doesn't show it except to hide her thanks for it behind her disguise. She bows her head as if she really is just a follower of a noble household receiving acknowledgment from the head of another house.
