He didn't like to be by himself sometimes. His thoughts caught up with him, surrounded him and made him remember that time. He was broken when they found him, and he wasn't sure he was fixed now. He wasn't sure he'd ever really be fixed. It made him angry, that those people, the enemy, would do something like that to him. It frightened him, to know

The eldest two shitennou have a way of watching over Jadeite, and he appreciates it, even as little as he might notice it sometimes.

Jadeite glances behind him, and then turns. "Zoisite," he says, and it might almost be apologetic. "You don't either," he remarks, and there's the tiniest attempt at a smile. He comes closer. "Is something wrong?" He has a feeling there's not, except for Zoisite's concern. But Jadeite is glad for Zoisite's presence right now. It's comforting.

"I'm all right," he reassures Zoisite, but he looks away anyway. He can't really lie to Kunzite and Zoisite, even if he might to prevent their worry. Master too, but he was easier to slip by sometimes. He was busy, so it was okay. And Nephrite was just generally dense. All brawn and no brain, Jadeite sometimes taunted.

Everything bothers him sometimes. The solitude, the crowds. The silence, the noise. Being asleep, being awake.

"It was too quiet," he answers reluctantly. "I can't sleep like that."

"I would like to hear Zoisite's music," he agrees politely, looking almost ashamed to take the offer. But maybe he won't sleep otherwise.

He turns a little more towards Zoisite, and after a moment closes his eyes, as if he can better hear the melody that way. Maybe he can. It's more than just something to relax him. Like this, Jadeite is sure he can feel Zoisite's care for him, the worry he rarely displays on that calm countenance. He appreciates it, even if he can't bring himself to say it that often.

Eventually Jadeite relaxes a little in the music, shoulders lowering just a bit and the muscles working themselves out of the knots they'd drawn into. He opens his eyes after a while, watching Zoisite.

How long has he been this tired? He feels all of a sudden as if he could simply collapse where he stood. The shitennou sits on his bed slowly, closing his eyes again, leaning just a little as if into the music.

He readjusts without complaint, settling back into the pillows, draping one hand across his stomach and turning his cheek against the cool pillow. He can sleep, like this, and feels as if nothing will bother him.
