We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo

Ami finally has a bit of time to herself, no classes or cram school or extra study sessions. As a treat, she's come to the zoo, where she carefully reads each sign and plaque, storing up the information about the various animals and their habits and habitats ( Read more... )

"Ami!" Is that a bit of happiness in Rei's voice? Even though it's a girl? No way! "Heading to the Aquarium?"

Ami pauses. She turns to glance back at Rei once she realizes he's talking to her.

"Eh?" Then she recognizes him a moment later. "Rei-kun?" Ami smiles.

"Yes. Hello Ami." He gives her a slight smile. "I finally understood who you were. You're the girl version of Aki-kun."

"You seem to be having a fun day."

"Mm! I like the zoo. It's educational." Ami offers the last part a bit more quietly, almost sheepish. "But, if you're here... I wonder if this is the same zoo...?"

Ami trails off, giving the surroundings a quick, quizzical look. It all looks the same, at least. Maybe it doesn't really matter in the end.

"Ah! Look at the otters! Can you see me through the glass, guys?" Usagi is very interested in anything that distracts him from the otherwise sucky week he's been having.

A giggle - which is very quickly covered by a hand.

"Ah... I don't think they can hear you, in there," she says tactfully, pressing her lips together a bit to keep the smile from breaking out again. He's so lively and enthusiastic.

He turns, then blinks when he see's what appears to be a younger Mercury. "Ah, well their still cute...er I mean," He tries to make his voice sound deeper. "Cool."

A younger Ami, anyway; and one no longer not tainted by the Dark Kingdom.

"It's alright," she tells Usagi. "I like them, too. They're very interesting to watch."

When Ami arrives at the aquarium, she might find a girl staring at it, close enough to be nearly clinging to them. Her mouth hangs open pretty wide as she stares at the fish in awe. "How pretty..!"

After a few moments she leans back to notice Ami arriving there. Her first thought is Mizuno-sensei, but then again, she doesn't have black hair. But there had been that other Mizuno-sensei who looked like she could have been an older version of this one, so..

"Mizuno-sensei!" Miai runs over to Ami, that smile still stuck on her face. She has seen enough to conclude that this isn't Crystal Tokyo - not to mention the other girl's age - so it should be fine this way. The fact that the other girl might be confused by being called this way doesn't quite jump into her mind yet, though.

Mizuno...sensei? It's obvious she's been mistaken for either her mother or an alternate; probably an alternate. But as Ami turns around, she doesn't recognize Miai at all.

"I'm sorry," she apologizes. "We haven't met before, have we?" The other girl seems friendly enough, but Ami has a habit of treating that with caution, which doesn't fade now. Another teenager, like her, to all appearances.

"Ah, that's right!" Her face turns slightly surprised as she realises what she has been forgetting. Very quickly she starts bowing, as if she can make up for forgetting it at first with doing it extra quickly.

"My name is Miai! Aisu Miai! Nice to meet you!" She laughs, although slightly sheepishly.

"I'm not sure of the right etiquette when you know my name already, but since we haven't met, I'll introduce myself," Ami decides. "I'm Mizuno Ami."

Thinking it over, couldn't it be a joke, calling her Mizuno-sensei, because of her bookishness? And she doesn't know everyone at the new school yet... Ami glances slightly away.

"Do we attend the same school? I'm sorry if I didn't notice it; I'm still sort of new there and..."

She wants to go to the aquarium! Never mind how she got in the place. Ami pauses, schoolbag in hand, to read a plaque about the tropical fish swimming in front of them. She looks next to her. Oh.

Eh?!

Ami freezes a moment as she stares at her counterpart. In such a public place?! There has already been one person do a double-take. "The aquarium is the best part, ne, twin?" Th-that sounded reasonable enough, right? Ami offers a sheepish, 'please play along' smile. Just act natural in a situation like this, right?

Hopefully no one sees them who knows exam genius Mizuno Ami from her national scores, or who knows the painter Mizuno and famous doctor Mizuno-sensei have one child. For a moment, Ami almost does a double-take herself, but she catches herself just in time, and nods.

"Let's look at more of the larger fish." Which are conveniently located slightly more out of the way.

Oh, right, that sounds like an excellent idea! Ami nods. And away they go! Shuffle shuffle.

At least there are no people right here at this moment. Ami nods her head a little in apology to her counterpart.

No need for the apology. "I guess it can't be helped, if it was the Nexus," Ami offers, and she even finds a genuine smile. It's kind of weird to see such a perfect reflection of herself, but it makes her feel the tiniest bit like she's not an only child. That's a nice thought.

"It's not usually busy a little later on in the day. We can look at more when it's slow."
