Dream a little dream of me

The priest of Elysion prays far below the surface, in the hidden temple where the Golden Kingdom once stood. He keeps his eyes closed and hands folded as he seeks out one dream in particular, but strays through the dreams of many.

Every night in my dreams I see you, I hear you. neomoonrising November 19 2009, 09:58:38 UTC
For Usagi Chiba it had been a day like any other. She'd followed the normal routine: get up, get ready, go to school, come home, do schoolwork, spend time with her friends, chastise a few criminals, go home, eat dinner, get ready for bed, and then go to sleep. It's been this way through her high school career and it's unlikely to change now that college is looming just around the corner. It's her lot in life and she's come to accept this fact. Her drams; however, have been the same empty haunting dream she's experienced ever since she was about thirteen years old. This night was no exception ( ... )

But he's there this time. He steps out as if he's always been there, as if there's never been a separation between them at all. He approaches her with a somber expression, but he holds out a hand to her, extending it outward for her to take and touch.

"Maiden. Your dream has become this sad." It makes him sad as well. He doesn't know the reason for it, but he knows her tears.

(ooc: aha, absolutely no worries ♥ this'll be fun. and i get veeeery tl'dr at times, too)

I'm ignoring that it managed to flip to the wrong icon, so help me. neomoonrising November 19 2009, 10:07:25 UTC
He appears, in answer to her call just the way she'd always dreamed he would. It's safe to say that after all this time she was expecting this. His very appearance has sent her stumbling, and she takes a precious moment try and gather together her composure. Was it really him? This wasn't some cruel, evil trcik to get her hopes up was it?

"Helios? Is it really..." She trails off as his words hit home. Her dream has become sad, through no one's fault but her own. She'd let them become sad, so wrapped up in herself she hadn't even thought about the effect it would have on him.

"Helios, I'm sorry." She hesitates for a small moment before reaching out her hand to him, placing their palms together in a simple but timeless gesture. It really was him. He was here, and tonight at least she wouldn't be alone.

(ooc: much adoration is heaped on your head. This should be fun though, I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure I'll run out of tl;dr eventually.)

He quickly reassures her. It's him. Apologies aren't necessary. He is here.

"I have been waiting for the day I would see you," he tells her. "Here in your dream. You have truly become the maiden and lady I desperately sought." He presses his hand to hers, and smiles a gentle smile he means to be comforting.

Yeah but I'd meant to use the icon from post #2 in post #1 and post #1's icon in post #2 T_T neomoonrising November 19 2009, 10:17:52 UTC
Sometimes words aren't needed. She knows the answer to her apology without him having to say it , she just knows. For that moment they aren't needed, all that matters is that he is near.

"You've waited for me here? How can that be? I've waited for you every day for years and you were never here. I was always alone before, all I had were the memories of before." The sadness of those days doesn't matter now, not at this moment. She doesn't want to taint her time with him be dwelling on such emotions. "The lady you sought?" Usagi smiled slightly at that, eyes warming under the soft influence of his smile. "Have I truly?"

"You have grown strong and graceful, and you have never let that beautiful dream become tarnished," he says. "That is why I was able to find you. I am deeply sorry if has been so long."

He loses track in the mists of dreams and prayer, closed away in Elysion. He breaks the contact of her hand and kneels to kiss her hand, as the most proper greeting for the lady she has become; no more the forehead kisses to the little girl, but neither yet passion.

Enough to tag me later 'cause I need to get to sleep? neomoonrising November 19 2009, 10:33:02 UTC
No, she'd never let the dream tarnish. It had worn down with age though, sadly. His very presence was restorative in and of itself. Plants that hadn't bloomed in a year bloomed again and the general atmosphere was more than it had once been.

Elysian is rather removed from the world and for this she truly can't blame him. Her cheeks however, go from rose to crimson as he takes her hand, kissing it softly. You would think that someone who was eighteen wouldn't be so affected by the simple gesture as she was. It wasn't a gesture she was used to, as she'd clung to his promise despite the many who had vied for her attention. The very fact that it was him put so much more meaning into it ( ... )

His lips stop at the proper distance from her hand, still close enough to feel the warmth of his breath on her bare skin. If he stays there a fleeting moment longer than strictly necessary, perhaps he can't be blamed. He rises after that, in time to reach to brush away her tears.

"Do not cry," he tells her. "I will lend you my strength. What has happened here?"

That's always good to hear. neomoonrising November 19 2009, 17:27:57 UTC
Some girls would not have been satisfied with such a gesture, but for Usagi it was enough. This was Helios after all not some demanding guy from her high school. It was this, among other things, that had captured her heart in the first place. He wasn't like anyone she'd ever known.

There were still tears in her eyes, the daughter of Usagi did have similarities with her mother after all, but she smiled at him anyway. "Sometimes crying is the best thing to do and the only way to cleanse your emotions." She reminded Helios, not that he likely needed the reminder. "Time happened here Helios, time and emotion." They were talking about the landscape of her dreams after all, or at least Usagi was.

"Time?" he questions, but he seems to understand her meaning as his hand cups around one of the reviving flowers. He plucks it and holds it out to her. "Maiden, time can wither anything but a dream. Perhaps it is also a change in your heart."

Perhaps his view is naive, with the multitude of humans who discard their dreams as they grow up and adulthood pushes them to maturity and harsh practicality. But he stands by his words.

Was he right? Was her heart at fault after all? Had she done this to her dream? "A change in my heart? That can't be right. I haven't..." There's a voice in her mind that feels otherwise, unsurprisingly it sounds like Pluto. It whispers to her about all those times she'd almost given up on her dream because it was becoming hard to remember, to believe in something that had happened so long ago. It had been her fault, she'd just refused to let herself see it.

The price of growing up was always sharp and full of prices that have to be paid. She's never quite had the same unbridled optimism of her mother, no matter how much she'd tried to emulate the older woman she adored.

In the end it all came down to the fact that it had been her fault, not his. Had she failed him? It certainly felt so, or was that just the new-found adult inside talking?

"Your true dream is not our meetings," he tells her, still calm but perhaps a trifle sad himself. "You must remember your true dream and give it life again."

He does not answer what it might be, what he believes it to be. To him, even if she dreams of that, she shares the dream of the senshi to protect their world, just as he protects the world of dreams.

"This place must shine brightly again. I am certain that it will."

It was clear now that over the years she'd lost sight of just what her dream was. It had been so long how was she even going to find it again? Was it possible? Of course it was possible, she refused to believe that it was otherwise!

Protect the world? Her world has been at peace for a very long time, the senshi now are little more than glorified police keeping the law on Earth from the few that would challenge it.

Yes, of course it will shine again. He's reminded her about her dreams and how previous they are. She won't take them lightly, she'll cling to her dreams and make sure to protect them as she should have all along.

"It will shine again, you have my word. Brighter than it ever has before."

"I already know that it will."

He reaches for her hand again, as though to break the heavy mood. "Come, let us walk. It is rare to be able to see each other." He knows this beautiful place, quickening to life even as they stay here, but he will let her lead him through it, let her set their pace as they walk.

It's silly but hearing him say so was reassuring.

It's effective: breaking the somber mood as Usagi smiles at him, taking his hand. "It's true, the chances have been far too slim." The place is slow, leisurely as they walk together along familiar paths. She's in no hurry, quite content to take her time enjoying these moments.

"It must have been long ago, to make you feel lonely," he reflects. "I apologize that I was unable to meet you in this world. I am certain my 'self' who exists here feels the same."

"But it is natural for loneliness to lead to sadness. Do not blame yourself any longer."
