Keeping Her Waiting

Another day alone in Nemesis. Well, she couldn't say that; the occasional servant was out and about, though they still regarded Usagi wearily. She supposed that wouldn't change, as she was an outsider who first found her way here by sheer accident. Her shoe-clad feet made eerily hollow noises in the empty hallway as she made her way to the throne

Fortunately for any Demando lurking about, this is not the Kunzite who's sworn to kill them. It is, however, a Kunzite who looks rather amused at the sight of the princess, Sailormoon, collapsed on the ground.

"Your voice has improved!" he remarks casually, either meaning that horrible cough itself or her weak cry to Demando.

Usagi's heard that voice, once before. She looks up to him, unable to reply verbally, though she gives him a glare so venomous that not Sailormoon nor the Princess could have ever possibly mustered it.

Kunzite laughs outright, "Such a face. Will you attack me, Princess?"

He then diverts his attention to calmly examining a few pale flowers he happens to be holding. "These are pleasing, do you not think so?"

Why yes, he can feel what's around them. After his years in the Dark Kingdom, his body is more or less acclimated to it.

Slowly, Usagi pulled herself up, ignoring the protesting pain in her chest, fighting back coughs. "What do you want?" she asks firmly, pleased her voice stays steady, not easing up her glare.

"Oh, nothing," he says calmly. "It's just that what you're suffering right now is from dark energy." He smiles a bit smugly, as if it's his own doing. Whoever did it, it's a clever idea. Perhaps he should have tried it from the start instead of the failed youma idea.

"I wanted to be sure you were alright." Well there's a blatant lie if ever there was one.

There's a pause, then Usagi laughs, a dark, guttural chuckle from deep in her throat, though it's broken up by coughs. Perhaps a side effect from the throat pain. "You're so full of shit," she comments.

Oh, he thinks he could enjoy this for quite awhile. Not for him the childish compassion of Jadeite, the kindness of Zoisite, or even the reluctant feeling of Mercury.

"On the contrary," he says, deliberately misunderstanding. "The quantities of dark energy in this place are quite substantial. It's refreshing."

"If all you wish to do is run your mouth and act ignorant," Usagi comments, feeling the pain in her chest lessen, the coughs slowly beginning to cease, "Then perhaps you should find someone who actually cares." She lifts her chin, defiant even now. "I know full well you hate myself and my alternates, so why bother wasting your time, nexus or not?"

"Well, it's boring otherwise." And despite the facetious tone, that's probably the closest to a true statement he's given her so far.

"Besides that, I found myself here by accident. I don't want to return yet." A characteristic smirk.

The pain, by now, as managed to lessen to something manageable. "Then do what you will." With that, she turns on her heel and slowly walks away from him, re-entering the throne room, thinking perhaps being outside was the issue. Maybe the flowers were the cause, reacting to something on Nemesis. But that seemed unrealistic...

He may do exactly that. Kunzite heads off in the opposite direction from Usagi with purposeful strides to explore what he can of this other world.
