Venus gives the room a curious look. She recognizes the place she's found herself in as the Earth Palace, where as she was on Venus mere moments ago. It's a mind boggling thought until an answer occurs to her... the nexus. Nodding to herself with a small frown, she ventures forward, scanning her surroundings carefully.

Beryl's eyes widen immediately. "Venus-sama!" she addresses the senshi in surprise, bending her knees into something between a bow and a curtsey as she balances the tray.

"Princess-sama's tray is just prepared. I'll bring it immediately," she says, assuming Venus' visit must be to check on it. (Though it seem strange, come to think of it... Why would Venus involve herself in something so small? And it hasn't been that long...)

Her first instinct at the sound of that voice is to tense, shock crossing her face as she seeing the familiar woman kneeling before her. A storm of emotions whirl through Venus, confusion, shock, anger; they already took care of this threat! Concern for her princess, and for the prince even if this woman is in the Earth palace! Thankfully for Beryl though, Venus doesn't immediately attack as part of her wants to, instead one hand reflexively gripping the end of the chain around her waist as she stares.

"Beryl."

Thankfully, indeed; this Beryl doesn't have the powers of many of her alternates, either. She watches Venus in some confusion, but stops short of questioning what's made the senshi angry.

"Ah... Venus-sama, did you require me for something?" It's more than a little awkward standing here like this, and she'd prefer orders or a dismissal.

She levels a very piercing stare at the woman before her, just confused enough to keep from attacking. There is something wrong with this picture. When was Beryl ever this way?

"Why are you here? What is your goal?"

"Eh? Venus-sama?" She glances at Venus in very real confusion and perplexity. All that stops her from offering a tonic is medicine is the realization that this must be because of the nexus.

Not, of course, that she expects Venus to know her; no, she's quite used to the fact that the great men and women aren't expected to, and don't, socialize with the palace servants. She doubts Endymion-sama so much as knows her name or would if he heard it a thousand times.

"I live in the palace. A chambermaid, upstairs."

Her eyes narrow as she looks for any hint of deceit in her former enemy, but there is none to be found. It's obvious that she believes what she saying, and that she has no idea why Venus is so tense. The senshi relaxes only marginally at that, her hand remaining on her waist with her fingers curled around the chain.

"I see."

Even if this woman is innocent, there is too much history on Venus' part for her to be as friendly as she otherwise would.

Beryl's eyes stray to the hand readied by the chain, and a hint of fear overshadows the simpler nervousness. But she'll have to content herself with the reassurance that at least Venus isn't uncoiling it.

It's not much.

"This tray is for Endymion-sama and Princess-sama," she notes again, "But if you also wish something, it can be made very quickly."

:D?

"No." Short and simple. "Your services are not required." She's tempted to order this woman to stay away from the prince and princess. "You may go about your business, Beryl. However, have another servant deliver the tray."

Would that tempting order mean Venus caught her watching them in the courtyard yesterday? Oops.

Beryl nods again, compliant enough not to question the order that does come. "As you wish, Venus-sama," she tells the other woman. As she straightens, she heads back towards the main bustle in the kitchens to find another maidservant. The question of why she'd been asked to was one she somehow felt she wasn't sure she wanted an answer to.
