"The nexus, then." It must be, if neither of them recognize it at all. But, then, where among the infinite possibilities of the nexus? A space of what world?
Then, what he should have asked immediately: "Kunzite, is the enemy still here?"
"What about the others? Has there been any sign of them?" He can't accept the idea of the shitennou gone. They'll come back, they'll be back, they're not really gone, something.
Yet. He'll cling to that word, thanks. Mamoru's never even gone through that separation between the shitennou and their prince; they stayed with him. He can't imagine it any other way, even knowing what he knows.
Hearing of them gone... He won't believe that. Heh. Maybe Usako's rubbing off on him a little, or maybe they suit each other because they are that stubborn about this sort of thing.
"Until then, you should go to the hospital," Mamoru decides. He looks pretty firm; arguing probably won't get too far.
Not that he's sure what good a human hospital can do for a shitennou. Or how they'd explain just who Kunzite is with no identification or address or family or anything they can name.
"Kunzite!"

"Forgive me, Prince," Kunzite answers in a quiet voice. "I'll be all right in a moment."

A glance at their surroundings shows... nothing he's specifically familiar with. "Where are we?"

Kunzite's gaze lifts. "I've never been here."

Or maybe it's just denial.

"Not yet," he adds as an afterthought.

He doesn't dwell on the question very long.
"Then we'll look. And we'll wait."

To be without them...Kunzite can't imagine it, doesn't want to. He tries to block the image from his mind.

"I'm all right," he insists, but politely. "This is nothing a doctor can treat, I'm sure."

"Then what do you need?"

"Time," Kunzite answers. He smiles reassuringly. "I can still carry out my duties, Prince."
