The fire blazed through the building, smoke billowing into the night sky. Outside, Osaka's finest rescue workers worked to get the flames under control. The occupants all stood outside, watching with worried faces. One of the little girls cries into her mother's arms. The sound of another shattering window made everyone look up, and there was a sudden intake of breath as they took in the tuxedoed man in the window, who pushed himself out with ease.
It was an elegant, heroic leap, with his cape fluttering behind him, a hand on his hat to keep it in place... Until he fell into the path of a fire hose's water blast.
Tuxedo Mask slams against the wall of the building, slides down with a groan, and shakily picks himself up and stumbles towards the crowd, trying to catch his breath. The girl runs up to him, grabbing his sleeve, and he looks down at her with what might be annoyance. "...I understood that Natsumi-chan was your sister."
She steps back, whimpering a little, and he sighs, removing his hat finally. Clinging to his scalp for dear life, leaving claw marks all over his forehead, is a small kitten. He bows, and the girl gently takes the cat, pulling its claws out of his head without much ceremony. The man gives everyone assembled a weak smile, then turns and walks away. Maybe some of his pride will survive the evening.
