Scarlet Dreamer
Chapter Six: Agrabah
***At the Beach***
Melody swam in the ocean looking for seashells; she loved to collect them. While searching for seashells in the water, her friends searched for them on the beach. She came out of the ocean carrying a bag full of many different shells.
"Find anything?" she asked.
"We found these." Kiara, who was in her lion cub form, said as she showed Melody the shells.
"They're lovely!" Melody said cheerfully.
"So where's your mother?" Naveen asked questionably. Melody's smile slowly faded when he asked her this and said: "She and Scar left to go to another country."
"Really?" said Naveen.
"Yes." Melody nodded sadly. "Scar takes my mother everywhere he goes."
"Which country did they go to?" Naveen asked again.
"Agrabah." was all Melody said.
"How long will they be gone?" Tiana finally asked.
"A few days."
***Somewhere in the streets of Agrabah***
The city of Agrabah was buzzing; many salespeople were attracting a lot of customers. Ariel, dressed in Middle Eastern clothing and carrying her purse, walked through the marketplace. She was looking for something she could bring back with her to France and give to her daughter. In the marketplace, a man with a monkey on his shoulder was also walking through the marketplace carrying a bag of bread and some apples. His name was Aladdin, he was on his way home until he saw Ariel.
"Wow." he said to himself. Ariel looked at some of the fine silk and bought one of them. She then spotted a little shell bracelet and thought: 'Melody would love this.' She looked through her purse to see if she had enough money, but unfortunately she did not.
"Damn." she cursed.
"One shell bracelet, please." Ariel turned around to see Aladdin had bought the bracelet she wanted to purchase for her daughter. She walks up to him and said: "Um, thank you. But you didn't have to--"
"It's alright, I wanted to." he told her and gave her the bracelet.
"Again, thank you." said Ariel.
"So who's the bracelet for?" Aladdin asked.
"My daughter, Melody."
"You have a daughter?" Aladdin raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, back home in France."
"You left your daughter in France by herself? Why didn't you bring her with you?" he asked.
"No, no I-I can't. I'm a courtesan and I don't want her exposed to my work." Ariel said.
"Oh." Aladdin said.
"And don't worry, I left her with a few friends of mine." she told him in a reassuring tone.
"What about her father?" Aladdin asked again.
"He died." Ariel said with her head down.
"Oh. I'm really sorry." Aladdin apologized.
"It was 12 years ago, before Melody was even born." she added.
"That's awful." said Aladdin.
"Ariel!"
Ariel turned around to her left to see Scar, who was in his human form, just a few feet away from her. "I have to go."
"I'm Aladdin, by the way."
"It was a pleasure to meet you, I really have to go." she said as she left and went to Scar.
"Who was that man, Ariel?" Scar asked in a demanding, yet calm voice.
"No one you need to be concerned with, Scar." replied Ariel, causing Scar to give her a glare. The two of them walk through the marketplace.
"Where were you?" he asked.
"Buying a bracelet for Melody." she said as she put the bracelet in her purse.
"Why must you always buy meaningless trinkets for that girl?" Scar asked, annoyed.
"I promised her I would bring something back from Agrabah." Ariel told him. Scar scoffed and said: "Whatever."
Ok, glad that's done. As you can tell from reading this, Melody really hates when her mother has to leave her. Usually, Ariel would bring back something from whatever country Scar takes her to and gives that object to Melody. And that bothers Scar very much.
Yes, Aladdin's in it. Sue me.
