Been AWOL for awhile...

I have neglected my journal, I know. I'm going to try and be better about it. I got sprung from work early today. We have been slow. I went to Kohl's and picked up some things for Thanksgiving dinner. I'm not sure yet, but there may be (including my husband and myself) 9 for dinner. My brother may come with his two daughters and one of their boyfriends in tow. I wish he would hurry up and let me know for sure. I think I'll just go ahead and plan for that many people instead of stressing over it. Better to have too much food than not enough.

Now a brief summary of happenings since my last entry...

My vacation was very nice, except for the very end, I'll get to that one later. My husband said he had a nice time on his fishing trip with his son at Port Mansfield. They caught their limit of fish. My husband did forget to put sunscreen on his legs and got a bit of a nasty sunburn.

While he was away, my mom spent a couple of days with me. We had fun. We shopped and shopped. What could be more fun than that?? We did have a scare though, my mom thought she had left her purse in the dressing room of one store. We went back to try and find it, but it was gone. A store employee said we might want to try and look around the store because once another woman had left her purse in the dressing room and it was found in another department, minus her money. We tried that, but no luck. We were about to give up when I realized that we had been talking earlier about how I didn't like my purse and my mother said I needed to get one like hers. That conversation was after we had been to the dressing room and I told my mom that she had her purse at that time because I remember looking at it. Then she remembered she had set it down in the toy department to grab something on a high shelf. I ran back to the toy department and sure enough, it was there. She was so lucky, nothing was missing.

Our stay at "Sunrise Canyon" was very nice. The cabin was nice and cozy. The hot tub was great. There was a sweet cat there to greet us when we arrived. She spent quite a bit of time sitting on my lap when I was outside on the back porch. There was cat food in the cabinet, so I guess that meant while we stayed at the cabin, it was our duty to feed the cat. I didn't mind, being the cat lover that I am. I temporarily named her Spooky, since we arrived on Halloween. Another cat showed up later that day. She was a black and white kitty with black fur under nose that so reminded me of a French waiter's mustache, I temporarily named her Frenchie. I just laughed out loud when I noticed. I enjoyed it so much. I definitely want to go back again some day.

We finally found a coffee table we liked at a reasonable price. I love it and it looks great in our living room.

At the end of our vacation is when things went kind of south. My husband's ex-wife called to tell him there son was in a bad accident and was air lifted to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition. My husband was very upset, understandably. I drove to the hospital. I wasn't quite sure where it was, but it wasn't too hard to find. We spent most of the night in the emergency room. I had never met my husband's ex-wife and I have to say she was a bit strange. My husband has told me several stories about her and most of the time I thought he must have been exaggerating, but I don't think he was. Anyway, luckily, my stepson only suffered a broken nose and broken eye socket. We were thinking it was going to be much worse. He is doing well. Unfortunately, the person who hit him was killed. A very sad thing. It appears he had been drinking. His little boy was with him and he was critically injured. I hope he is going to be okay. The last I heard, he was in the hospital. That was several days ago though.

A couple nights after that happened, my son called to tell me his car got stolen. He could not remember his license plate number and thought I might have had some paperwork with it documented on. I'm sure he was grasping at straws. I did not have anything. My son had any and all information about his car in his glove compartment. I talked to him the next morning to give him some places to contact that might have that information. That same day after work, I called him back to see if he was able to obtain it. He told he happened to look out and his car was there, in it's usual parking slot at his apartment. I thought he was joking at first. He said he found that his spare key was missing and he thought he knew who had taken it, his roommates brother, who had stayed with them for a few days. This person has been in prison!! The one thing about my son, that kind of bothers me, is that he is always way to trusting of other people. I know it's good to have trust, but a person needs to be careful. I hope he has learned something from all this. He now has one of those locks you put on your steering wheel until he can change the locks and ignition.

Twiggy is doing great. June is now a bit more tolerant of her now. She actually played with her for a few moments the other day. She still hisses at her sometimes, but I'm hoping they will be buddies eventually. :-)

I know I said I was going to brief, oops, that didn't happen. LOL!
