On his way to join Locket the crystal caught him. Of course he didn’t think it was there, not until he stepped on it-it wouldn’t surprise him if it hadn’t been.
Everything went dark and silent. The sensation of having no body was not unfamiliar, but he’d never felt a memory with so little to ground him in realty-not sight, noise, or even a sense of touch or chakra.
In a way it sharpened the other two senses and he concentrated on them. Taste. Blood in his mouth, mixing with water, that peculiar taste that might be rain.
Smell. The blood. But it was a faint smell compared to the sharp smell of ozone-lightning storm? That would explain the slightly metallic rain-if it was rain he tasted. But it had to be rain, because he could also smell wet earth and stone, the kind of earthy smell only rain seemed to produce. A clean smell, in a way. And over that and the ozone he smelled fire, not smoke, but burning, charred earth and scorching rock.
Sight and feeling and sound returned, blinding him for a moment, especially when his eyesight was so much better than he was used to. The clothes he found himself in didn’t surprise him, though they were strange and hard to move in. He continued on his way, the brief senses of memory slotted in the back of his mind to consider over later.

Of all the items that came and went through his possession in his black market deals, the scroll caught his interest. He doubted it was coincidence that he should encounter the crystal and the scroll on the same day. Taking it home to the Dojo instead of passing it along to one of his associates to sell discretely, Crow found the contents most enlightening, making a note to test them when had the free time.
Acquired: Scroll on construction of elemental seals (such as those used to ward the Akatsuki base) and instructions on creating exploding tags.
