Suddenly, I am in a funk.
I broke a drill bit. I was doing so well...*sigh*
Yesterday, we pulled up the carpet in the dining room (who carpets a dining room anyway?!) and the living room/library. Elly and Kevin were nice enough to offer to come help. Then, we all went out to dinner together. After dinner Tom and I moved the majority of the furniture back. All that is left today is 1 bookshelf, the cardoor table, the blue chair, and the dining chairs. Then we have to put all of our books back on the shelves.
Today, I did a little bit of time on the recumbant bike (good for me, working out!), talked to my mama a bit, and then we went and got some lunch at Taco Bueno. It was slow b/c they just opened. After lunch we stopped and bought some paint for the bathroom ceiling (what makes Ceiling Paint different from other paint anyway?), bought some groceries and came home. It was so nice outside that Tom decided to mow the lawn and I cleaned the garage. Since I had just organized all my tools I thought, 'why not fix that broken spring on the blue chair? Then, when we put it back in the living room, it won't be saggy on one side anymore.' Well, my plan for fixing the spring did not work out, and I managed to break a bit in the process. Phooey.
******** passage of time ***********
So, I stopped in the middle of this, but I am back now. Tom came in from mowing and we took a shower, then he cuddled me to help make the grumpies go away. He is a good boy. We are starting some beef stew for dinner and then he's going to look at the chair with me and we'll see about making a new plan.
In other news, the neighborhood cats have gone a little crazy around here. There is one white cat with splotches that has come into our garage twice now - once several days ago, and once today - acting oddly. The first time, it was like it was lost and thought that we were 'home' and was then confused that it didn't recognize anything in the garage. Today, it wanted to sniff everything and wandered around like it owned the place. We have dubbed it, "Random." The other cat, cream colored, showed up last night, and generally wants to wander in circles around our house crying. It sounds very pitiful. Tom and I have dubbed it "Scruffy" b/c it looks a bit rough around the edges. One eye is all watery, one ear is crooked like an old battle-wound, and one side of its mouth is very dirty (maybe injured? I can't tell). It won't let us get close to it. It stays about 10 feet ahead of us if we walk toward it, and winds up just leading us in a circle around our house b/c it doesn't run away, it just keeps going around and around our house. It likes it when one of our girls comes up to the windows in the great room. Athena hissed at it through the window, but it didn't seem to mind. Sakura seems puzzled by it. I feel bad for it if it is injured, but it won't let me help it, so I'm kind of at a loss for what to do. Eventually, its "rowr, rowr, rowr" will drive me crazy and I'll work at running it off.
