Since the moment you left i knew that something wasn't right. ((Yesterday, September 15,2004))
I can't remember the time or place
Or what you were wearing
It's unclear about how we met
All I know is that it was the best conversation that I've ever had
To this day I've never found someone
With eyes as wide as yours
I've been searching up and down this coast
Over looking what I need the most
Did you notice I was afraid
I thought I'd run out of things to say...
As she approached me today,
Conversation was nowhere in sight,
But immediately started off with your name.
You asked how I was and she gave her response,
And she included "Do you still talk to her?"
An answer that I know is true but it still killed me,
"No I haven't talked to her in a year and a half maybe two"
... I'm surprised you remembered.
And amazingly enough we'll both remember the last day for the rest of our lives,
Because for so long, everybody watched our friendship grow,
And with every passing day we got closer and closer,
Our friendship was the basis of our lives...
So everyday with you; my best friend,
You were my everything,
The person I confided most in, the person I trusted most in my life, I could tell you anything,
But I knew when that day would come,
I'd lose everything.
Broken and alone,
It was my job on my own to start over again.
So a promise that I took to the heart,
The only one that I've ever heard,
My first promise that I believed and an ending to the first and last when it broke.
I'll be honest,
I dreaded that day more than anything in my life,
Because exactly how I imagined it,
Was exactly how it was played out.
"The day you slipped away, was the day I found it wont be the same... I miss you"
A figment of my imagination became my reality,
You walked up the long hallway,
Skateboard in one hand and the other in your pocket,
Hair in your face,
Just as perfect as you've always been,
The group of people on the last day after school when the final bell rang,
You were the only person I could see,
Nobody mattered...
You ran up to me dropped your skateboard,
And hugged me.
Broken down in tears,
You wiped them away,
Looked me straight in the eyes and spoke the final words.
"This is a promise to you and only you. You changed my life, made it complete, so from the bottom of my heart thank you. Your my best friend, an angel I will never be able to replace or forget. Angela, please don't cry, I'm not going anywhere, it'll still be the same I'll just be going to a different school. I love you more than anything, this is not good-bye, this is I'll call you later."
Kissed me on the cheek, hugged me one last time, moved your hair to the side, picked up your skateboard and walked good-bye.
Your hand in your pocket,
Your other one wrapped around your skateboard,
You walked head down,
Nothing said to anybody else,
So as you walked out of the doors where we first met, you walked out of the best days of our lives.
It's to be said that I was the only one that got a good-bye from you.
That's how I'll remember you for the rest of my life.
I still see you throughout these hallways,
All the memories we've made; I keep them close,
And your friendship remains in my heart.
I hope your okay.
I hope all your dreams come true.
I don't say that people deserve anything, but to you, you deserve the world.
I miss lying with you talking about our life long plans together;
I miss the late night phone calls just talking for hours.
I miss telling you everything because you were the only one that'd listen,
I miss hanging out with you; let alone just being able to see you,
I miss hearing your point of views on certain things,
I miss all the little things you used to do,
I miss your hair and your eyes,
The certain ways you'd look at me,
I miss your smile; because it was my medicine to get me through the day,
I miss your voice,
I miss your laugh; because your happiness built my happiness,
I miss you the most out of everything; but I miss the you that only I know,
But most importantly I miss our friendship.
I'm missing apart of me,
My heart is hallow without you,
But it's noticeable that I'm not completely me without you.
I'll never forget you; you made me who I am today.
I'm here for you for always,
I will never give up on you.
If you ever need anything you know my number,
And you know where I live,
Don't ever hesitate.
Conquer your dreams;
Build your realities,
For you are nothing less than amazing.
So as true and meaningful as it gets,
I completely miss you, and I love you more than you'll ever remember.
So with my name imbedded in these words,
I never said goodbye...
I was just a promise that you left behind.
