A big shout-out to the geek-in-chief

Barack Obama makes a guest appearance in issue No. 583 of Marvel's ever-popular The Amazing Spider-Man. The superhero's alter ego Peter Parker is assigned to photograph the inauguration, where he exposes a presidential imposter by testing his basketball skills (Obama's slick jumpshot is all over YouTube). The foiling of this dastardly plot is celebrated with an Obama-Spidey fist-bump. The new commander-in-chief has confessed to a childhood passion for Spider-Man, the comic of choice for brainy orphans; Obama and Parker were both raised by their extended families. Marvel's editor-in-chief Joe Quesada explains his inspiration for the issue: "It was really, really cool to see we had a geek in the White House."

Awesome2. Also, adorable.

IYC's next post is almost finished being edited--it should be up in half an hour, at the latest :)
