BSG - "Dirty Hands"
So....I loved tonight's episode. Probably not as much as I expect to love *next* ep, but--omghistoryspaz Chief is a communist! And Roslin is a Nazi! Book burnings! And Baltar is--is--is all corrupted!Marx! And Cally almost died but she *didn't* :(! Andandandand we had flight instructor!Starbuck yelling at her new nugget, so I was all looool.
*cough* Um. Right.
So.
Repeat: I liked this episode. So much better than the last episode, for one thing, but also...um, heh, history geek? 21st century history geek who is obsessed with the totalitarian governments? And there was Roslin being...*Roslin* and hard ass with her book burnings (!!!), and her I'll-be-agreeable-until-you-mention-The-Book turned arrest him now kthxbi made me laugh. "Why was he arrested?" "He pissed off the president" ..."I'm pretty sure he was kidding" *snort*. Cally (and everyone else, apparently) reading Baltar = *facepalmsomanystupidpeople*. The issues brought up, however, were very interesting--and it wasn't easily clean cut, which was great. Because...dude, holding back on the tylium was not cool, and people do need to do some of the dirty work--and they're very understaffed--but the living conditions and backwards-through-history stuff.
Where was Zarek? Because this would have been an awesome ep for him to show up--though I suppose that *might* have added another hour to the episode, and they left out moralizing!Lee, too, so I guess I'll forgive them. Also, Chief = :) Stuck with Cally, who annoyed me throughout this episode, but... Seelix is kinda cool. And the scene at the end, with Starbuck, amused me greatly--I love her in flight instructor mode.
Also, hereditary jobs/classism (even if the Baltar!inspiration made me roll my eyes) part was fun.
Thinking again, that strike was so very, very stupid and dangerous. I understand their point, but cylons and extinction, people. Ring any bells? And yet--and yet, and yet, and yet. Hence, me liking this episode.
The ending was kind of corny and yay once again happy family...I was kind of wondering about what would happen with post-threaten-Cally!Adama/Chief, since Chief has always been so Adama's man, but...
