[had to look up 'kvetching' btw - yiddish, really?] I think Josef is justifiably pushing Mick to admit to his feelings; even if he takes good times whenever he can get them, he's not made out of stone... Poor Josef! Poor Mick! Some day...! ;)
From a writing pov, I kind of dislike the repeated "...". I feel a bit like I am 'left hanging' while reading. Maybe it works at "trying to fight back unseen demons intent on invading his dreams…" because it's an interrupted thought, but at "Josef responds..." it seems a little out of place. Just my nitpicking, really.
Well done, though! I enjoyed reading this twice :)
