well, the competition is over. we lost. im not sure if im happy its over, or sad that we didnt make it.
our set was a death trap and i have to many cuts all over my hands from that fucking elevator. and so many bruises on my legs.
comp yesterday was okay. the first one was soooo much fun. yesterday i met alot of nice people, especially from cohaset. i have a mild infatuation with this kid i call jack boy, his real name is david, but he looks like liz's boy jack. hence, jack boy.
time to copy paste synopsis' of the plays that moved on from caitlin...
romeo and juliet was just really well done...in the beginning me and drew thought it was kind of sloppy in the beginning with the transitions, but it got much better...the kid who played mercutio was amazing...he was just perfect for the role...i didnt get much from romeo or juliet though...they werent made to be really strong characters in it...the set was somewhat simple, but really pretty...though i hear they payed 500 bucks on these like fire things..which is kind of ridiculous...the one thing i really liked about it was how they used music with it..during the fight scene where mercutio is killed they played nine inch nails...i didnt know what to do with myself i was so excited..then during the bedroom scene with romeo and juliet they played i think some sarah maclachlan (sp?) song..at least it sounded that way...i dunno i really enjoyed it, it definitely derserved to go to finals..id pay to see it again
act three scene five was a simple play with a cast and crew of like 8 people..its basically a rehearsal for romeo and juliet, but the two main characters cant act for shit...at least at first...the assistant director is telling them that it basically sucks and wants to change the blocking, etc etc...so juliet and the girl playing the nurse go to look for the actual director, and the guy playing romeo basically confesses that he saw the assistant director in another play and she moved him in her performance and he wanted to be able to do that to an audience..so she teaches him how to act i guess..and during the whole thing you could definitely sense the sexual tension between them..so all is well towards the end yadda yadda...i thought it was really well acted and i was surprised they moved on, but i really liked it
then lexingtons play...i really have nothing to say about it cause it was just weird..it didnt make any sense till the end...and even then you were just left saying "what the fuck was that?..they wrote themselves..and in meeting some of the cast members they were some pretty hardcore drama kids..but it was like they didnt know what the hell they were really getting at in their play either..
which i agree with her, lexington kinda sucked. and they shouldnt have moved on. but oh wait, they write their own plays so of course theyre symbolic right? but ask thed kids what they symbolize, and theyre like "uhh, well, we thought it lokoed cool and our director wanted to do stop motion stuff, blah blah we suck but were gonna beat you anyways"
fuck that.
ive been very emotional lately. little things make me feel like crying. not quite sure why.
(shrug)
my life has basically been drama for the past 2 weeks, as with everyone else in the play, so i have nothing really interesting to write about.
i went out with jesse breifly the other night. it was nice, we hadnt chilled in a while.
and im gone
"yeah ur play was.. cool, but... howd you do the elevator thing?" Fuck you.
