Dear Yuletide Author
Hello Yuletide Author! Thank you for being patient while I got my letter written, and more importantly, thank you for offering one of my favorite small fandoms! Before I delve into each individual requests, I'll give you a quick general rundown.
Things I like: Hurt/comfort, angst, fluff, OT3s, incest, adventures, humor, smut
Things I don't like: random AUs (high school, figure skating, etc: anything that takes them out of the general world they're already in), mpreg, hardcore BDSM, some kinks (a little bloodplay is nbd, but scat, watersports and baby RP are the ones that come to mind most as not really my thing. Also hardcore obsessions with a certain body part like a foot fetish).
If I think of anything else I will update, but I think that about covers it for now.
Request 1: Cambridge Spies
Anthony Blunt, Guy Burgess, Julian Bell
I absolutely love Julian Bell and Bloomsbury. Any story regarding his relationship with Anthony, Guy's feelings toward him, how they dealt with the events of his life and death...anything. Also not opposed to Guy/Anthony as a ship, as long as there's something about Julian somewhere. ;)
Seriously, I love this show, I love these characters, I love the real life stories behind them. Any combination of the three of them as a ship would make me happy, and from any point in time in the series. I also wouldn't be opposed to an AU where Julian lives, if you want to explore the fallout from their 'betrayal' and how they deal with that/if they can find a way to retain their friendship (or more than friendship). Really though, I don't think you could write something with these characters that I wouldn't like if you tried, so if you have inspiration that doesn't fit with this, go nuts!
Request 2: Dresden Files
Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden, Thomas Raith
Anything with Harry and Thomas. Shippy stories, unrequited feelings, life-threatening adventures, quiet brother moments, anything.
Not gonna lie, I ship Harry/Thomas hardcore. Or at least Thomas having feelings for Harry. I can see Harry being unrequited and oblivious, because they're brothers. Stars and stones, that's not even how his mind works! Whereas among the Raiths it's clear that familial bonds don't really even slow them down. I would love a fic that explores Harry somehow becoming aware that Thomas' feelings toward his brother are...somewhat more than brotherly. How would he deal with this revelation? Would he feel the same way? Or would it just make things painfully awkward between them? Would he try to talk about it or pretend he still has no idea? How does Justine fit into all of this, if she does at all?
If you don't ship them, though, I don't want you to feel obligated to write something romantic. I love Backup because it explores that brotherly bond and the fact that Thomas would do pretty much anything to keep Harry safe. Something along those lines, told from either POV, would be very well received. Or even just something sweet and tender. Celebrating a birthday together. Spending a night playing board games because it's what Harry wants to do. Set it before the last few books, or dive into the effects of what, if anything, has changed between them because of what has happened.
Request 3: Graceland
Mike Warren
I will put some more details on each fandom in my yuletide letter (currently locked, so if you can't see it when you go, check back, I will unlock it as soon as there's something more than a placeholder!) but honestly, I can ship Mike with so many people in this show. Briggs, Johnny, Charlie...I would be happy with any of those, or if you just want to keep it gen, that's fine too.
Okay, so this section is the reason it took me so long to get my DYA letter posted. I have so many feelings about Graceland and they don't want to be translated into anything more coherent than keysmashing and sparkle text, but I'm going to give it my best shot.
I. LOVE. MIKE. WARREN. Aaron Tveit is a life ruiner, and as Mike he is just AH-mazing. I love his FACE earnest enthusiasm, his devotion to the FBI and the Rules. I love watching that evolve as he realizes that all of that stuff he's just spent years learning and mastering? Yeah, doesn't apply now. I love his friendship with Charlie, the way Johnny gives him constant crap, the confusing combination of hero worship and devotion to duty that is his interaction with Briggs. The entire premise of the show is very well crafted, and the characters are so diverse and complex! I have to admit I'm particularly partial to Johnny, but honestly I would love a fic that explores his connection with any of the above, or even Paige or Jakes (would prefer not Lauren though, I didn't like her. XD). It can be romantic, sexual, or just delving deeper into the connections we see in canon. Or heck, feel free to just write a gen fic with the whole crew. As long as Mike is a focal point I'm a happy fangirl.
Okay, that turned out a little more coherent than I thought it would. Go me!
Request 4: Cal Leandros
Niko Leandros, Caliban Leandros, Robin Goodfellow
Brotherly stuff between Cal and Niko, madcap adventures with Robin, angsty things, fluff, anything.
I have a thing for codependent brothers, if you haven't noticed. (I love me some Wincest, too.) So if you want to make the connection between them more than just brotherly I'm good with that, although with the Leandros brothers my shippy vibes are not as strong as in some other areas (Dresden *cough*). It's their blind, stupid, dangerous levels of devotion to each other that I truly love. Daring rescues, loving nursing back to health (with a generous topping of sarcasm and ribbing, of course), that sort of thing. And of course Robin is just such a fantastic character that I couldn't leave him off the list. If you'd rather play with him, I'd love a "Five times Robin didn't sleep with Niko, and the one time he did" or something along those lines. ;)
