It occurred to me that I haven't really updated with anything much of substance in a while, and that I'm also not the easiest person to get a hold of at the moment. Basically, my life is consumed with two things: my final bit of time at the Gap, and packing for my move. The first is fairly pleasant...as this is my third summer in the job, things come easily to me, and so i get to do cool things like mannequins and building walls...but on the other hand, i think i'm definitely burnt out on retail. i can't wait to be back in a classroom, reading pages upon pages...this spatial organization of clothes is getting a bit old.
packing, as most of you probably know, is pretty much the bane of my existence. i've done it too many times to justify being bad at it...and i'm not "bad" at packing, per se...just reluctant and very particular. especially since this time, i'm supposed to thin out my collections of important papers and love notes and diaries, etc. my pack rat nature does not take well to throwing things out, even though i really don't want to live in a cluttered space again next year. oh well, a week from thursday i'm throwing what i can into a uhaul, and hoping i've grabbed everything i need and not much that i don't.
i CANNOT WAIT to get out to LA...i feel like things will be much better when i can settle into my own home. plus, there's the obvious attraction of FINALLY being back in the same city as lewis...i think more than anything, that will make the move an easier one. it's weird, though...i expect so many of you from school to be out there too. that will be the hardest adjustment, realizing you can't all come with me (silly people with your own lives.)
let's see...there was much discussion over the weekend about my eventual wedding...right now, i give up on the topic...weddings seem far more stressful than i anticipated. eloping seems like a marvelous idea, just one guaranteed to piss of half the known world. oh well.
i'm off to goodwill to scope out possible furniture, and then back to my job as cute bubbly gap girl (we have fabulous new clothes for both men and women! and you can save 20% all day if you open a gap card....)
