nothing much going on for me today; unless being a third wheel in writing class consists as remarkable. not really.
lately i've found myself disgusted with rape-culture, the MRA for defending George Sodini, and a poorly-made social commentary movie on rape at it's extremes called Dead Girl. i've also always been a bit of a feminist, so here it is, ( Read more... )

Ahaha 1) I have no ieda, and 2) I think everyone woman nowadays should be a little bit of a feminist, because otherwise, well, isn't that just a step back into the middle ages, when women were worth less than dirty bathwater? I think so :|

Oh my gosh, that should not be an allowed opinion. It's like the fucking MRA - who are praising George Sodini like some kind of god-sent because he was a little socially awkward and was rejected by woman, and killed three woman (and probably intended to kill more) because of it. Like, wtf kind of backwards reasoning does it take for someone to convince themselves they should be raped for showing a little skin? Guys can walk around barely nothing without even the slightlest inclination to thinking that maybe, just maybe they'll be objectified sexually. So grow up, world - if we can 'justify' someone deserving to get raped, then why can't we 'justify' murdering someone because they looked like thy deserved it? (Oh wait, nevermind, we do - war.)

I very much agree with you, Sadie-bear. We, as a culture, are raised under the premise that men are people, and women are women, and even steps of female liberation aren't going to fix this problem anytime soon. As a women, the biggest fear is that a man will kill/harm us - and it's true, in the way we're told not to walk alone at night, and cautioned of the male libido. Meanwhile, the "man"s greatest fear is that a woman will reject him. Because really, what can a woman do to me, big, strong, dominant male?

The "best" arguement I've gotten that a woman who dresses like a slut deserves to be raped is if you leave your doors unlocked, it's your fault if you get robbed. Um, what? Not even a fitting comparison! That's like saying, oh, if you don't carry all your money around with you all the time in a little safety deposit box with a code only you know that is garunteed to be un-hackable and hire seven body guards to follow you around at all times just in case someone does get into, well, you deserved to be robbed, didn't you? Like, bullshit she deserved it. And then there are people who say a woman who sleeps around deserves to be raped - but that's just encouraging the "good girl" vs. "bad girl" stereotype, that girls who are more or equally as sexual as boys are bad, and girls who are less sexually active are good.

Rapists are smart little fuckers. They don't rape everyone, because they can't get away with it. And they know it. So they rape the ones who we say are okay. They aren't dumb - they hear the way people talk about women, the way people will shake their heads, tsktsk, and say 'Well what did she expect dressing like that?' A rapist hears that, and so he targets those kinds of woman, knowing that if he rapes them, he'll get similar approval. Not only do "we" justify it, but "we" enable it.

It is meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessed.

Ahem. Anyways; I'm taking Math 11, Socials, Art: Drawing 11 and English 12 : ) Also, Law 12, but that's by correspondance.
And Twilight Hating! Yaaaaaay, I'll definitely read it!

Bro, don't even worry. I do the typos ALL THE TIME.

I agree, it worries me when women say they aren't feminists. I know that ost of the time they don't actually know what it entails, and only have the medias portrayal of it to go on, but that possibly makes it worse.

WOMEN ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SUPPOSED TO STAY COVERED UP ALWAYS BECAUSE IF THEY AREN'T HOW CAN YOU EXPECT A MAN TO CONTROL HIMSELF?????
Seriously, fuck that. If I want to walk around with my shirt off in the summertime, no bra, that should be a complete non-issue. Why is it that other peoples ideas of me are supposed to be my fault? I shouldn't have to worry about getting asked by teachers to cover up whenever I wear a lowcut shirt. I should be able to wear whatever I want as long as it doesnt promote hate. It's about my comfort. We in the western world rail against Burkas every chance we get, but then we blame girls for getting raped if they show skin. Meanwhile, we show models and movie stars with nearly nothing on and say that this is the ideal. We are giving very conflicted messages.

I'm tired of having to worry myself sick, and even missing events, because I know that to get to them I would have to walk somewhere with minimal people around at dark. With guys, they worry about being mugged, which WOULD suck, but at least rape isn't on their mind always. It's awful, and so unfair.

Oh! But on a positive note, my one 'teacher' (he's actually there to help some of the kids with their mental problems) was on my side, and gave this analogy: So, say one day you are walking down the street, and you're wearing a bandana. You wore it because you just like that bandana, you like the way it looks. Now, the police pull up to you, and you get beat up, because they believe that you are in a gang. Is that your fault? And even if you were in a gang, does that give them the right to do that?
The boy actually said that that had happened to him. But when my teacher asked if he could see how the situations were similar, the boy didn't have any answer to that. I like that it brought it back around to something boys have to worry about: getting beat up.

But all-in-all, people suck. I do not know why this is.

Man! Lame! I have Sculpting 11, Science 10, English 11, and Journalism 12 (or maybe Socials 11, I'm on the waiting list)

I think most girls are under the impression that "feminist" means not wearing bras or shaving or showering, hating men and being a lesbian - they don't realize that something as simple as not wanting to be called a demeaning name because of your gender has to do with it. And I'm pretty sure most guys think feminists hate men too - which is bull because I love me some men.

Haha! I've almost solved this one! Because even the hormone crazed teenaged boys in my classes will show some offense to the typical 'can't keep it in his pants' stereotype. So I'm thinking it's only the real creeps that will let themselves be termed as such.
Ohmysfjafklj don't even get me started on women in media.

I'm tired of constantly second guessing what I'm wearing because I fear I may be objectified if it's too provocative (this coming from me, who shows maybe a little skin once every full moon.) I recently decided I would have to wear an tank top under my favourite blouse due to some wandering eyes the last time I wore it out. ;-;

That's a fantastic analogy! I haven't been in the position to argue my views on this subject to anyone but Mr. Coupe, so generally, I've been nothing but pent up emotion. Thank god for blogging, or else I might explode.

People suck because if they didn't, they'd blow away. For srs.

Well I'll see - I have to sort around my schedual to fit math in (decided just recently that there is no way I'm taking another math course by correspondance, so I'm replacing it with Law) so I might go into Sculpting...? So maybe!! But ahwell, I'm just excited to have you in school with me again! yaaaay!!!

I know, when I tell other girls I'm a feminist they are so shocked! It makes me sad :(
Why don't girls know what a feminist is? Why isn't this being taught in school? Once again WHY DOES EVERYONE SUCK SO HARD??

That's true, I don't really know any guys who think it's a-ok to be thought of as a rapist-in-waiting. I think it's mostly girls that think this. Or guys but only when they're talking about OTHER guys. Ugh.

Yer, being a lady in our society is lame. As it is in most every other one. I want to be able to where what I want without having to worry if I'll be thought of as 'promiscuous' or whatever because of it.

I've been on a bit of a ranting rampage lately. Nearly no bridge has escaped unsinged. But it's a good anger release?

This is very very true.

TAKE SCULPTING PLEASE HOMG But even if we have no classes together we have lunch tiemz?
I am so happy I'll get to see you on a regular basis again!

I have no idea, but I think it should be at least brushed over. If we so heatedly debate religon in socials class then I think we should also at least discuss Feminism - I mean, it was the great movement of our time, and at least it's still relevant.

I think we're at least fortunate enough to be in a country where there is some degree of female liberation. But at the same time, you see places like Japan where there isn't a form of feminism, and yet there is still a feeling of harmony between the sexes.

I've recently re-learned how to feel emotion so now that I can feel outraged, I am. If that even sounds right. It's a strange phenomina - my mom is kind of against it, though. I pointed out how there are TV shows directed to women that are cooking and cleaning, and that TV shows dedicated to men tend to be mechanics or vehicals, and she told me I shouldn't worry about it. I'm not worried, I'm just... disturbed.

I'LL TRY~~ Usually at lunch I'll be in the film room, though, because I'd like to do some independant projects and Mr. Coupe seems pretty alright with it. But yes, I'm excited!
