On the third hand...

My boss got fired last week. I haven't decided whether or not this is a good thing. At first I was mostly shocked, because he's always there and the idea of working without him was weird... not to mention that I never would have expected him to be fired. Then I was annoyed, because he was one of my favourite coworkers, and we got along well and such. Plus, the fact that everyone else seemed to be happy about it bothered me. Then came the good news.

Before this, I was not going to have all that much success with getting shifts that would work around hockey... lots of evenings, maybe a day shift or two in a week. But then Alex asked me the other day if I wanted the full-time weekday opening slot (10:30-5:00 or 6:30), and I thought, "Hmmm... this unfortunate event has opened up an unforseen opportunity for me... how interesting." Of course I took the shift. I'm one of only a few people who could open weekdays during the year anyways, so it works out well for everyone. Except Eric. I hope he still comes around and visits, because I do miss the guy. I'm still not totally happy about the whole situation, but I guess it was a blessing in disguise, no?
