It's hard to believe, but even I needed a break from xena today. I think after watching the very last episode, the show broke my heart. Sooooo, what did I watch? Buffy! It's been a long time. Out of the blue I had the urge to watch the episode where she is "tested" by the watcher coucil. I love her take charge "I've got the power" speech in the end, especially how she sticks up for her friends. You go girl!
Anyway, I love this scene where she is forced to fight and defend while blindfolded. Like that really IS the ultimate test. It doesn't screencap well, but it hits on my feelings that vision is highly over rated. I'd say my sense of hearing and touch and even smell are farrrrrrrr more sensitive and interesting.
My favorite test? Once in a blue moon this really heavy fog comes and covers the entire golf course. It's thick as green pea soup. I love running waaaaaay out there with my dogs and then spinning around a few times so I don't know which direction I'm facing. Then we use our other senses to find our way home. It's really cool. I also like closing my eyes once I'm deep in the woods and just letting one of the dogs pull me along the trail with the tension of the leash. I try tuning into the smells to tell where I am on the trail (it is marked with very distinct smells throughout) and I try to feel by the amount of shade or sunshine or heavy feeling as to WHERE we are. It's pretty cool. My girls think I'm crazy, but I don't concern myself with that much.
Buffy, as she listens to the sounds BEHIND the sounds...
And she's got muscles too!
