I agree with your assessment of #5. It's really missing that something. What did you think of Gosling's performance?

I thought he was fantastic. He's absolutely one of my favourite actors. I thought everyone in the movie did a great job with a pretty mediocre script actually.

The plot is clever, and makes some subtle and interesting social commentary regarding the face of terrorism, and the role of television and media in North American society.

Were we plagiarizing off each other and didn't even know it?

I can't believe they were allowed to put all that stuff!

I agree that 3D was good but there really weren't that many elements towards the end. I'm going to watch it in 2D and see if the movie loses anything from that. My guess is not so much.

I want to see movies in 3D that have really awesome effects not just 3D for the sake of making more dough. That tree in Avatar is still the best use of 3D in my book.

Great minds think alike! ;)

Yes, I really wish that studios would stop using gratuitous 3D as a money-grub. There are a few films I've seen where it really adds to the experience, but for the most part it adds absolutely nothing and also makes me motion sick. "Avatar" was great, and I thought that the 3D in "Hugo" was really well done also. I just saw "The Great Gatsby" in 2D and wondered if I was missing out a bit. There are a lot of pretty amazing, sweeping, aerial landscape shots. Then again...they may very well have made me motion sick in 3D haha.
