Five little words...

Apr 09, 2010 21:18

in light of all the political and gun posts lately,

"The right to bear arms"

Sounds pretty vague but anytime anyone cites the second amendment, they're usually doing so in light of a violation of it, or just as reasoning for being able to do something they want to do.

"carrying a handgun in the glovebox of my car but having to have the magazine removed is a violation of my second amendment rights!"

"not being able to carry a gun into a federal building is the government blatantly denying me my second amendment rights!"

"having to register my guns is a violation of my second amendment rights!"

Not heard from anyone here, but all points argued vigerously by people who are at some higher level of nuts relative to your position.

So whats your interpretation? Was that amendment to ensure people could posess firearms or blades, and take them out of the locked safe at home to defend their country if the army failed? Or tuck their handgun in between the drivers seat and the center console hammer back incase they got carjacked? Or does it mean having any weapon in any state with you at any time?

It seems to be like religion, in that I've never been able to get a straight answer to what's correct :p
