Does this happen to you often? What do you find is the easiest way to remove / dispose of maggots? I was thinking just shop vac them up wherever they may be...

I once accidentally left meat in a pot for a couple days. I wondered what the smell was. When I found it, I dumped out the squirming heap of rotting flesh in the woods and cleaned the pot profusely. I did have a mouse problem in the last house I lived in and used mouse traps, but I never had any problems with oder from dead mice.

Eww, I'd probably just throw the entire pan away. Did the smell ever come completely out of it?

It cleaned up really well and the stink didn't linger. It would of been a major waste to of thrown it away. I'm glad I didn't, I still use it.
