Stephen Colbert satirizes the upcoming ban on incandescent light bulbs but finally brings a small bit of attention to a very serious subject for me (starting at about 1:12):

And if that doesn't get their attention, we can become light bulb pirates, smuggling them up and down the coast to people who need them. (This is the sort of law that started piracy and smuggling in the first place--back in the early 1700s when the British government passed a law saying the American colonies could only buy products from England, at inflated prices. People actually welcomed pirates.)

Sorry if I'm sound glib--just answering two entries with one ... no, two replies. (Yes, if we can get us six scurvy Rushies and/or Robert Newton fans what wants t' sail our pirate ship, I'm game. We can sail around the world, picking everyone up for the party as we go ... with Geoffrey as our guest of honor/captain. Sure you can sail a ship with six people--I've heard of it being done with as few as three ... heck, Jim Hawkins and one of the pirates manage to sail the Hispaniola around Treasure Island and run it aground in the book--but it's a lot easier the more people you have. That's why pirate crews tended to be so large--more people equals less work to go around.)
