Well, the show got off to a great start with Ricky Gervais's edgy insult humor--which no one in the audience seemed to get. Let's hope they never have to attend a roast; talk about poor sports. He was the highlight of the show. (Which means he won't be hired back next year.) That and Robert DeNiro's pointed speech

At least Colin Firth got his award. He’s been turning in some good performances for years so it was nice to finally see some recognition other than female fans swooning over Mr Darcy (in Pride and Prejudice or indeed Bridget Jones...). I forgot about that kiss with Geoffrey but it’s funny, even though it was longer than a peck and quite close to the lip area it didn’t seem gay at all - it just seemed like 2 men who are very good friends, or even family members - the kind of kiss that you’d see between say Italian family members. Liked Colin’s (it seems weird to call him Colin without the surname, I don’t know why...) speech very much. And Jim Parsons getting another award for The Big Bang Theory - and presented by his co-star who seemed to be so thrilled for him - was great. A lovely speech from him as always. I have to say that I was also glad to see both Paul Giamatti and Steve Buscemi get awards even if I haven’t seen their performances because they’re 2 character actors that often get overlooked.
About that video. Well, I can kind of see why he might find Geoff creepy. He’s tall and thin with long fingers. The way Craig was acting ‘creepy’ basically made me think of the creature from Nosferatu, which, come to think of it, Geoff could play pretty well (although Willem Dafoe did that already). But he’s right Geoff does talk with his hands but us Rushies like that about him! His Aussie accent actually wasn’t bad, it just didn’t sound like Geoffrey. Hmm, Susan, it seems to me that in order to get an email read out you’ll have to make some sort of joke (probably not about Craig - he probably gets tons of those, even though he is far more self-deprecating than other presenters - I’m guessing because he’s Scottish). It would have to be a lewd joke, maybe something to do with older actors... I dunno, but I’ll think about it. Maybe if you said you were from Scotland it might also help ;P.

No, he definitely doesn't read every e-mail he gets on air, just the ones he can make a joke out of. And I'm not suggesting we try to get read on the air. The reason I'm suggesting it is cuz I'm sure someone on his staff is reading all the e-mails he gets, just to keep a pulse on what the audience wants (so Craig can pretend not to care). And even if he doesn't read your e-mail on the air, it doesn't mean he won't see it. So do write to him if you feel inclined! It couldn't hurt anyway. I just put in the warning about the possibility he could read it on the air so that nobody writes anything they would be embarrassed to have him read on-air, lol. But if you want to write him something witty and try to make the cut, that's cool too!
BTW, while Craig's definitely self-deprecating, he says that if you Tweet him anything negative about the show (like tell him to change something or stop with the Secretariat routine already!), he automatically blocks you. Well, with the number of followers he has on Twitter, I can understand that. But the e-mails go to the CBS website, not straight to him. At least I highly doubt he goes through every one himself.
(Lately, he seems to be wanting off the show, purposely doing things to anger the network execs--like continuing to swear so that the censor has to bleep him. And constantly complaining about the bad lighting and the leaky roof and that he doesn't have a band ... But now that his show's been picked up in Australia, as of last week, he suddenly seems to be back on his game and possibly even preparing a monologue ahead of time! On the other hand, he's always talking about how, when he goes back to visit Scotland, they're always on his case about how Americanized he's become. Well, he did become a citizen. So I don't know if being from Scotland would impress him, lol. Now Ireland might get his attention! He's a quarter Irish, you know. :D Yeah, there's not much we don't know about Craig after six years of nightly monologues!)
I could so see him having a great long conversation with Geoffrey on the show though. He does genuinely seem to admire him. And he gets some really cool, underappreciated (in the U.S.) actors on his show that nobody else ever seems to interview: Tim Spall, Michael Sheen, and Alfred Molina have all been on multiple times! (You can tell when he says stuff like, "But he'll never be on the show so it doesn't matter" that he really would love to have Geoffrey on but doesn't want to get his hopes up.)
