Lost 6x06: "Dr. Linus"

Mar 09, 2010 22:27

Dr. Linus: "On this island, everything became clear. ... Napoleon lost his power. ... Without his power, he might just as well have been dead." Might be talking about Jacob. (Claire keeps singing, "Catch a Falling Star." Is Jacob a "falling star"? Did he fall from a star? Is the island a meteorite ... and Jacob its "Little Prince"???)

Persnickety Dr. Linus works with whiny Dr. Artzt. Of course they sit together.

Aw, Dr. Linus has a dream. Cares about the kids. Maybe he should be the principal, says Locke, ever the Tempter even in this alternate reality, stimulating Ben's latent aspirations to power.

Miles can only hear someone's last thoughts and must be near their bodies. So he's been a fake medium to most of his paid clients.

Ilana: "Linus killed him?"

Ben: "What? That's not true."

Ben finally caught in a lie? And can't get out of it??? Oo, now Ilana's mad.

OMG, if Ben dies in this episode, I'm going to be absolutely devastated. (I cried over Charlie for half an hour and still can't watch that episode.)

Alan Dale in the credits ... means Widmore will be on.

Trying to keep his dad alive instead of killing him? OMG, please don't let his mother still be alive. O.O Oh whew, she's not. No Freudian nightmares tonight, thank TPTB. So they actually went to the island. And left. (Begging the question, of course, what happened to the DHARMA initiative in this reality?)

"Who knows what you would've been," says his father. Eep! Don't even ask.

Alex is his student. That means Rousseau can't be far. Oo, she was counting on his tutoring, comes to his house. Think she has a crush on him??? I can hardly blame her. He's gonna be in trouble when her mother finds out. (Time for an elbow to the face?)

Hmm, only six candidates left ... like the Oceanic Six? Not all the same people though.

Oh, there's Richard. It's about time. "Where did you come from?" "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." Haha, I have a feeling that's going to be a good flashback. Perhaps the one ME warned of with all the characters we haven't seen before. (Arr, a good seafarin' tale, mayhap!)

The "B Spot"??? *snort* So he's not into porn.

Frank missed piloting Flight 815 cuz he overslept, LOL. Ben: "The island still got you in the end." So it may yet do so in the flash sideways.

Oo, more Ben bondage. He was way overdue.

Ben digs his own grave. Gee, last time he dug a grave, he was in his undershirt. Aren't you getting awfully hot there, Ben? I'll hold your shirt for you. :) Um ... it's only 9:17. Someone has to come along and save him. Un-Locke and his gang??? I'm afraid Ben's going to end up with the bad guys. (But he'll only pretend to be on their side and really save the day. Right? But not by giving his life, I hope! I can't stand this!!!)

Uh-oh, he just promised to keep Alex's secret. He's going to lie ... to get the principal's job.

Alex: "Isn't that totally gross?"

Ben: "Totally."

ROFL.

Yes, he does like green beans as a matter of fact, as we saw in the Season 4 episode, "Eggtown." (Or thereabouts.) Better than rabbit meat.

Right up until the second the knife went through Jacob's heart, he was hoping he was wrong about Ben. Hmm ...

Ooo, all about Richard. Jacob gave him a "gift." (In the German sense of the word? You know what they say, beware of Germans bearing "Gift.") Of immortality. And he's not a cyborg or vampire.

Richard ... just ... lied! (Is this Lost or House? "Everybody lies" is House's slogan!)

Richard: "You spoke to Jacob? Well, whatever he said, don't believe him." Now that's interesting. Even Jacob lies.

Richard's going to die??? Why, just because Jacob has a new spokesman? Has he just been waiting to die all these years? (Why does he suddenly remind me of Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner: "Time to die.") Could you maybe rescue Ben first? Pretty please???

OMG, is the nurse going to turn out to be ... Juliet?

Artzt is selling himself out (breaking the law) for a good parking space where he doesn't get maple crap all over his car?

Something tells me someone else is going to end up in that grave other than Ben. He digs awfully neatly though. Trying to make it comfy for himself?

Meanwhile, back at the Black Rock. So Richard did come over on that ship. (Interesting, in view of the contrast of dark and light, black and white, that the ship has "Black" in its name.)

OMG, he's going to be a suicide bomber (and blow up the bad guys?). He can't kill himself? Just like Michael Dawson couldn't.

When Jacob touches you it's not a gift, it's a curse. Hmm, Jacob touched Sayid and Sayid died ... for a little while. (Did he touch Ben??? Oh, right, he did when he died!)

Jackass! "If he wants to die, there's nothing we're gonna do to stop him." Sure there is; he just said he can't kill himself. So if no one will kill him ... Duh.

Hurley, you're wasting time.

So Jack finally believes he was brought to the island for a reason. Whew! No earth-shattering kaboom.

So if Richard was touched by Jacob, how come he's not a candidate??

Ben is saved by the Smoke Monster, I knew it. To be in charge of the island? (All alone? His own private Elba?)

LOL, that was a comical cartoon escape if ever I saw one! (Michael Emerson must get his own sitcom after Lost is over.)

"Pretty lascivious stuff." Such a prude. In his next flash sideways, I see him as a preacher.

Uh-oh ... blackmail. Now the principal has to have Dr. Linus killed! :(

Hmm, will he put Alex ahead of himself this time?

OMG, he's changed! He's not going to join the bad guys! And he's telling the truth!!!

Yeah, where will he go? He is going to join Un-Locke. "He's the only one that'll have me." Aww, he's even making her cry! "I'll have you." Awesome! Yesss!!! (Won't we all?)

Now, what will Dr. Linus do? It can't go well in both cases. I'm guessing he'll throw her under the bus again ... and be undone by his hubris all over again.

Aw, he really did the right thing. Ha, he figured out a way to have his power (still a manipulator) and help Alex too. And he gave away his parking space. What a sweetheart. (Almost as sweet as ME himself.)

OMG, he's totally turning nice! I don't know if I can handle this. Jacob was right about him after all. Redemption, yay! (Somehow this nagging image of him giving his life to save the island--or the other Lostaways--is growing stronger in my mind. I don't think I like this. But it seems inevitable. Although ... he was Touched by Jacob. Oh wait a minute, Locke was touched by Jacob too. Ahhh, I can't stand it!)

It's the "the three return to the beach alive against all odds in slow motion and hug everyone including Sun" theme music.

Aw, no hug for Ben? I've got one right here! (His second most huggable moment after the one where he emerges in the forest clearing after Alex is killed! The very moment I fell in love with him.)

Uh-oh ... periscope cuts through the water like a shark fin. The submarine! *gasp* Widmore!!! (Well, it was good up till that corny ending!)
