The Emmys: 61st time is a charm!!!!!!

Sep 20, 2009 20:11

Yes! Less than 10 minutes in and a close-up of Michael Emerson already (followed immediately by one of Jon Cryer?!). This is getting off to a good start. (But, ahem, couldn't help noticing Simon Baker strolled down the red carpet unaccompanied by his lovely wife.)

Oh, Jim Parsons from Big Bang Theory is nominated too? I pick him!

John Hodgeman is the announcer? Even cooler! *loves him on The Daily Show*

OMG, finally, Jon Cryer wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL, great speech (despite how nervous he looks!).

Oh look, John Hodgeman is playing a PC too! (Will we see him on TDS too?)

D'oh, Jim Parsons lost to Alec Baldwin. Baldwin's OK but really not that funny, IMO. But I'll trade Jim Parsons' Emmy for Michael Emerson's. Generous of me, no? (He will win he will win he will win he will win.)

Woo, John Cryer presenting an award. (And this is the boring "reality" segment.) If only Michael Emerson were presenting!

Little Dorrit? When was that on? How did i miss that? :((

What? Another King Lear? Can't be as good as David Warner's was.

Oh, look, there's our "friend," Sigourney Weaver. Too bad we were hogging Geoffrey that night. (Mwahahaha.)

And Jessica Lange, Geoffrey's Tony presenter! All good omens for Michael (I hope!).

Oh cool, "The Year in Variety" ... covers all the shows that didn't get nominated. :) (Even a clip from the Tonys.)

LOL, Colbert Report staff standing in front of the David Letterman theatre. How many times did we walk past that, my fellow Rushies?

Woot! The Daily Show! And my darling John Oliver's up there to accept! Congrats, John! Another good omen! *crossing fingers so tightly I can hardly type!*

I love when awards shows are nominated. Bet this one will be nominated next year.

Woo, Hugh Jackman! Too bad he's not there to accept. He was great as host of the Oscars.

Sir Ricky Gervais? Didn't know he was a sir. Cool. Love him. And presenting the award to The Daily Show? Announced by John Hodgeman? How cool is this???!

OMG, the drama awards!!!! *holds breath* The Mentalist, House, LOST ... (True Blood, meh. Audiences are so stupid.)

*watches intently for Michael Emerson*

Moment of truth ... fingers sweating ...

*screams my head off*

*\o/*

OMG, he just made a frowny face walking down the aisle like he heard me!

Aw, short but sweet acceptance speech. (Too short.) Best actors are always like that.

OMG, I can't believe I got my wish. Geoffrey Rush and Michael Emerson in the same year. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Now would it be too much to ask for Michael Sheen to get an Oscar nod?)

Ooops, gotta go calm the pets ... I scared them.

Oh, and now the sad part. :( Hey, who said all these people could leave without us? *pout*

OK, two more to go. I have a feeling they're going to go to House/Hugh Laurie though ... which I could live with. (I think Simon Baker's presenting anyway.)

Hmm, what's this? Making the winners of best guest appearance present the next award instead of making an acceptance speech??? No fair! And they have to accept the next winner's award for him? Imagine if they'd done that when Michael Emerson won his guest-appearance Emmy??? :( Things are really going downhill now.

What, LOST didn't win for writing? *pout*

Wait, getting better. Simon gets to present alone! He's got the Michael Caine thing going on with the glasses. Wonder if that's intentional. Hope he presents it to Mariska. *fingers crossed* Oh well, she's got one already. I think/hope.

Amazingly, the worst word I said just now was "crap." Come on, I had three favorites (Baker, Laurie, and Gabriel Byrne) for that category, and not one of them got it. (And Cranston has one already. Emmy hog!) Guess my winning streak is over. But that's OK, Michael Emerson won!!!

OMG, are they actually going to end on time? Only two more awards at 10:52 p.m.?

30 Rock again??? Why am I still watching this? :p If LOST doesn't win for best drama ...

Breakthrough performance: True Blood. Meh. Crowd-pleaser award. (That was so rigged. I mean, what kind of "performance" is a guy winning an award on American Idol??? There was no competition. It's all because the show wasn't nominated for anything real--nor should it have been.)

Better not be Mad Men ... Oh ... curses, it is. Should have known by the writing award. Nothing for Hugh Laurie or House, unbelievable. :(((

Maybe the LOST creators should have come up with a luckier title for the show???

Well, after Michael Emerson's win, there was nothing else worth watching except Simon Baker presenting. Oh well, time to count our blessings.

Congratulations Jon Cryer, The Daily Show, and Michael Emerson!!!!!!

PS: My throat is sore from screaming! But Michael's win is so worth it ... as long as he doesn't have to witness it in person. :)
