Okay, I know that in small shops that sell non-essential goods, the salespeople are desperate to do a good job so the store will turn a profit and they can keep their jobs. BUT - they should learn when to inform and then leave the customer to decide or ask more questions, when to push (seldom) and when not to (most of the time), because, after all, people don't need their product, it's something that they may (or may not) be willing to spend a few extra bucks for as a small luxury.
When you are pushed to the point where your inner voice is screaming "leave me the fuck alone, will you?", you are probably already so pissed off that if you might have bought something, the annoyance factor will make sure you don't. And then, lol, when you try to say nicely that you'd like them to stop HOVERING, for God's sake, i.e. "I'd just like to look on my own, thank you", said in a pleasant, neutral tone - they act all huffy and insulted and respond with "I was JUST asking!" and scurry away - making you even more pissed off. Needless to say, this is compounded when the merchandise in said shop is very over-priced compared to other shops selling similar items, and the items they are pushing the most are all the most expensive ones. How stupid and/or rich do I look?
Yes, I know they're young and eager, but sheesh! I will never go into their shop again, nor any other branch of it I might run across, but I will return to their competitor, whose service is much more low key, more extensive, classier, and the goods less expensive.
